Which accounting companies sponsor TN visas in Minnesota?
Large Minnesota-headquartered employers with significant finance and accounting operations, including Target, Best Buy, UnitedHealth Group, U.S. Bancorp, and Ameriprise Financial, regularly hire for roles that qualify under TN visa categories. Regional public accounting firms operating in the Twin Cities metro also sponsor TN visa holders for audit, tax, and advisory positions. Sponsorship availability varies by role, team, and hiring cycle.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most accounting TN sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis and St. Paul account for the clear majority of accounting TN sponsorship opportunities in Minnesota, driven by the concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, large regional banks, and mid-size public accounting firms in the Twin Cities metro. Rochester sees some demand tied to the Mayo Clinic's finance operations, and Bloomington and Eden Prairie host additional corporate accounting functions for large employers based in the western suburbs.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship?
The TN visa includes Accountants as a designated occupation, covering roles such as staff accountant, senior accountant, internal auditor, external auditor, tax accountant, and financial analyst when the position requires accounting-specific education and duties. The role must involve professional-level accounting work aligned with the applicant's degree in accounting or a closely related field. General bookkeeping or administrative finance roles typically do not qualify.
How do I find accounting TN sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for professionals seeking U.S. visa sponsorship, including TN visa roles. You can filter by visa type, state, and industry to find accounting positions in Minnesota where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor TN candidates. This focused approach saves time compared to sorting through general job postings where sponsorship availability is often unclear or unstated.
Are there any state-specific considerations for TN accounting jobs in Minnesota?
Minnesota does not impose additional state-level immigration requirements beyond federal TN visa rules, but accounting professionals should be aware that the state's CPA licensure is governed by the Minnesota Board of Accountancy. Canadian and Mexican TN holders can work in qualifying accounting roles without a Minnesota CPA license, though some senior or client-facing positions at public accounting firms may expect or require licensure for full responsibilities and advancement.
