Which construction companies sponsor Green Card visas in Mississippi?
Yates Construction, headquartered in Philadelphia, Mississippi, is among the most active construction employers in the state and has a history of sponsoring skilled workers for permanent residence. Other active sponsors include Turner Construction and Sundt Construction, particularly for commercial and infrastructure projects. Sponsorship is most common for roles requiring specialized engineering credentials or project management experience that is difficult to fill domestically.
Which cities in Mississippi have the most construction Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Jackson sees the highest concentration of construction sponsorship activity, driven by ongoing commercial development and state infrastructure investment. Along the Gulf Coast, Gulfport and Biloxi generate consistent demand through hospitality construction, port expansion, and post-hurricane rebuilding efforts. Hattiesburg also has an emerging construction market tied to healthcare facility and university campus development, making it a secondary hub for sponsored roles.
What types of construction roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Mississippi?
EB-2 sponsorship is most common for civil engineers, structural engineers, and senior project managers who hold advanced degrees in a relevant field. EB-3 sponsorship covers a broader range, including construction managers, estimators, surveyors, and skilled tradespeople such as electricians and heavy equipment operators where employers can demonstrate a shortage of available U.S. workers through the PERM labor certification process. General laborers are sponsored less frequently.
How do I find construction Green Card sponsorship jobs in Mississippi?
Migrate Mate lists construction jobs in Mississippi where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor permanent residence, filtering out roles that offer work authorization only. You can search by visa type, state, and industry to find Green Card-specific opportunities in civil engineering, project management, and skilled trades. Migrate Mate focuses specifically on international job seekers, so the listings are curated for workers who need sponsorship rather than general open positions.
Are there any Mississippi-specific considerations for construction Green Card sponsorship?
Mississippi's construction industry is heavily tied to federal and state infrastructure spending, which means many larger projects involve contractors with established immigration compliance programs. However, the state's overall labor market is smaller than neighboring states like Texas or Georgia, so the volume of sponsored roles is more limited. Workers pursuing EB-3 sponsorship through PERM should be aware that recruitment timelines can extend the overall process, as employers must conduct thorough domestic recruitment before filing.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card construction jobs in Mississippi?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
