Which insurance companies in Nebraska have sponsored H-1B visas?
Mutual of Omaha, Physicians Mutual, and Berkshire Hathaway's insurance-related subsidiaries based in Omaha have appeared in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for H-1B filings. Smaller regional carriers and third-party administrators operating in Nebraska have also filed petitions, though less frequently. Sponsorship activity tends to concentrate in actuarial, technology, and analytics functions rather than field sales or underwriting support roles.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most insurance H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Omaha is by far the dominant market for insurance H-1B sponsorship in Nebraska. The city hosts the corporate headquarters of several major carriers and financial services firms, which is where actuarial, data science, and IT roles that typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship are concentrated. Lincoln has a smaller but present insurance sector, primarily through regional offices and state-related insurance administration functions.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Nebraska?
Roles that routinely qualify include actuary, data scientist, software engineer, financial analyst, and risk analyst positions within insurance companies. These positions generally require a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field, satisfying the specialty occupation standard. General insurance agent, claims adjuster, and customer service roles typically do not qualify because they don't consistently require a specific degree field.
How do I find insurance H-1B sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type, state, and industry to surface insurance roles in Nebraska where employers have a documented history of H-1B sponsorship. This saves significant time compared to manually reviewing job postings without sponsorship information. Migrate Mate focuses exclusively on international job seekers, so the listings are filtered with your visa situation in mind.
Are there any state-specific considerations for H-1B workers in Nebraska's insurance industry?
Nebraska requires insurance professionals in certain licensed roles, such as agents and adjusters, to hold a state-issued license. H-1B status does not prevent someone from obtaining a Nebraska insurance license, but licensing timelines should be factored into your job search and offer negotiation. Employers sponsoring H-1B workers for licensed roles will typically account for this in the onboarding process, though it adds an additional compliance step.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B insurance jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
