Which education employers in Nebraska sponsor H-1B visas?
The University of Nebraska system, including its Lincoln and Omaha campuses, is among the most active H-1B sponsors in Nebraska's education sector. Creighton University, Nebraska Wesleyan University, and larger K-12 districts such as Omaha Public Schools and Lincoln Public Schools have also filed H-1B petitions for qualifying roles. Sponsorship activity is most consistent at research universities and institutions with dedicated international faculty needs.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most education H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Lincoln and Omaha account for the majority of education H-1B sponsorship activity in Nebraska. Lincoln is home to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, one of the state's largest H-1B filers in the education space. Omaha hosts Creighton University, the University of Nebraska Omaha, and the state's largest public school district. Outside these two cities, sponsorship opportunities in education are considerably more limited.
What types of education roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Nebraska?
Roles that qualify as specialty occupations are eligible for H-1B sponsorship. In Nebraska's education sector, this most commonly includes tenure-track and visiting faculty positions, postdoctoral researchers, curriculum specialists with advanced degrees, instructional designers, and education technology professionals. Roles requiring a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field are the strongest candidates. General K-12 teaching positions are less commonly sponsored, though exceptions exist at the district level.
How do I find education H-1B sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters education H-1B sponsorship jobs in Nebraska by employer, role type, and location. Rather than sorting through general job boards where sponsorship status is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces positions from employers with verified H-1B filing histories in Nebraska's education sector, helping you focus your applications on realistic opportunities.
Are there any state-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in Nebraska's education sector?
Nebraska does not impose additional state-level requirements on top of federal H-1B rules, but the state's education hiring cycles matter practically. Universities typically hire on academic calendars with faculty searches peaking in the fall and spring semesters. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed for an October 1 start date, candidates and employers in higher education need to plan timelines carefully. Many universities are cap-exempt institutions, which allows more flexibility on filing dates.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B education jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
