Which transportation companies in New Jersey sponsor Green Cards?
Large freight, logistics, and shipping companies operating in New Jersey have historically sponsored Green Cards, including FedEx, UPS, Maersk, and XPO Logistics. Port-adjacent employers near Newark and Elizabeth also sponsor for maritime and supply chain roles. Sponsorship decisions are employer-specific and typically reserved for positions where the company has demonstrated it cannot fill the role with a U.S. worker through the PERM labor certification process.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most transportation Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Newark leads due to its proximity to Port Newark-Elizabeth Marine Terminal and Newark Liberty International Airport, both major logistics hubs. Elizabeth, Jersey City, and Edison also concentrate transportation and warehousing employers. The I-95 and I-78 corridors running through northern and central New Jersey host distribution centers and freight operations that periodically sponsor international workers for specialized roles.
What types of transportation roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in New Jersey?
Roles most commonly sponsored require specialized qualifications that are harder to fill domestically. These include transportation engineers, logistics operations managers, supply chain analysts, port operations specialists, and fleet management professionals. Positions requiring advanced degrees or technical certifications in areas like transportation planning or freight systems tend to qualify more readily under the EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based categories than general driving or warehouse roles.
How do I find transportation Green Card sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters transportation roles in New Jersey by visa sponsorship type, including Green Card. Rather than sorting through general job boards where sponsorship details are rarely disclosed upfront, Migrate Mate surfaces positions where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor. Filtering by the Transportation and Logistics category alongside New Jersey narrows results to the most relevant opportunities.
Are there any New Jersey-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in transportation?
New Jersey's position as a major East Coast logistics hub means transportation employers here often have established HR infrastructure for sponsoring international workers, particularly near Port Newark-Elizabeth and major distribution corridors. However, PERM labor certification still requires employers to document a good-faith domestic recruitment effort regardless of location. New Jersey's higher prevailing wages, set by the Department of Labor, apply to sponsored positions and must be met throughout the sponsorship process.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card transportation jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
