Which energy companies sponsor visas in North Dakota?
Major energy employers in North Dakota that sponsor visas include Hess Corporation, Continental Resources, Marathon Petroleum, and Whiting Petroleum. These companies frequently hire international engineers, geologists, and operations specialists for their Bakken operations. Renewable energy companies like NextEra Energy and Otter Tail Power also sponsor workers for wind farm development projects across the state.
How to find energy visa sponsorship jobs in North Dakota?
Migrate Mate specializes in connecting international workers with energy visa sponsorship opportunities in North Dakota. The platform filters positions from major oil and gas companies in the Bakken region, as well as renewable energy projects statewide. You can search specifically for North Dakota energy roles that offer H-1B visa, L-1 visa, or other work visa sponsorship.
Which visa types are most common for energy roles in North Dakota?
H-1B visas are most common for specialized positions like petroleum engineers, reservoir engineers, and environmental scientists in North Dakota's energy sector. L-1 visas are frequently used for international transfers within multinational companies like BP and ConocoPhillips. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican professionals, while O-1 visas apply to experts in emerging technologies like carbon capture and storage.
Which cities in North Dakota have the most energy sponsorship jobs?
Williston leads North Dakota for energy visa sponsorship jobs due to its position in the heart of the Bakken oil formation. Minot and Bismarck also offer substantial opportunities, with Bismarck hosting corporate headquarters and Minot serving western oil operations. Dickinson and Watford City provide additional openings in drilling and production operations.
What are the prevailing wage considerations for energy jobs in North Dakota?
Energy roles in North Dakota typically command premium wages due to the specialized nature of oil and gas work and the state's remote locations. The Department of Labor's prevailing wage determinations often reflect higher compensation levels for positions in Williston and surrounding Bakken counties. This helps international workers meet H-1B wage requirements more easily than in other industries.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored energy jobs in North Dakota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
