About Treeswift:
In the face of rising threats, increasing pressure on affordability, and unprecedented demand for power, Treeswift empowers energy companies to modernize their field work to meet the growth and challenges ahead.
We build physical AI for the field worker: whether on foot or in a vehicle, our technology is an ironman suit for engineers, linemen, and vegetation crews: same worker, same boots on the ground, now operating at 10x productivity. Our platform is powered by cutting edge hardware, sensors (LiDAR, camera, etc…), AI and software designed to revolutionize work in the toughest environments.
Since our first pilot with a utility in June 2024, we've grown fast, now working with three of the five largest utilities in the US. To date, our technology has enabled our customers to reduce wildfire risk, regulatory and outage risk from vegetation, avoid delays and cost overruns in new construction, and accelerate recovery from severe storms.
To tackle this challenge, we are bringing together a team of mission-driven experts with deep industry experience in robotics (Penn, Caltech, CMU) and enterprise software development (Palantir, Stripe, Oracle, MongoDB). We have raised funding from leading investors including Penny Pritzker’s Inspired Capital.
We are headquartered in midtown Manhattan, with additional offices in San Francisco and Philadelphia.
Our growth is only accelerating. We’re looking for deeply curious and highly ambitious people who want to have a real world impact. Come build the future of (field) work with us.
About the role
As a senior robotics engineer you will drive outcomes across perception, mapping, sensor fusion and calibration that directly contribute to the expansion of our business. As our business grows these needs will change; first priorities for this role will include:
- Improving the quality and consistency of our product in an increasing breadth of operating conditions. For example, you will lead SLAM development including incorporating new sensor evolutions and exploring innovative approaches to improving performance in GPS degraded environments.
- Accelerating our time to delivery by leveling up our sensor fusion and calibration. This includes fusing multi-user, multi-session point cloud maps and automating alignment of LiDAR and imagery data to produce consistent large-scale scenes.
- Power scalability and reliability by eliminating the need for extrinsic measurements on our vehicle sensors in the field and improving our ability to catch and correct potential data quality issues at their source.
Experience / Skills
- 5-10 years of experience in perception for robotics
- Comfortable in a fast-pace and high-ownership environment. You’re excited to collaborate, but also comfortable developing your own opinions.
- Proficient in C++ and Python
- Extensive experience developing SLAM solutions, ideally involving ground-based LiDAR
- Experience with extrinsic and intrinsic sensor calibration, including automated data-driven calibration
- Prior experience with ultra-wide angle cameras is a nice-to-have
What We Value
- Mission first. We value team members who are focused on working towards the best outcomes for the customer and the business.
- Curiosity. We are constantly learning – from each other and from our customers. We aren’t afraid to learn we were wrong in the process and adapt our approach accordingly.
- Owners mindset. If you see an opportunity for improvement, run with it. We believe that good ideas can come from anywhere, no matter your role.
Benefits
- Comprehensive medical, dental and vision insurance
- Life insurance package and disability coverage
- Stock options
- Paid leave for new parents
- Unlimited PTO
- 401K
Salary
The estimated salary range for this position is 160-210 USD. Total compensation for this position is determined by skills, qualifications, relevant work experience, location, and other factors. This salary estimate excludes the value of any potential bonuses; the value of any benefits offered; and the potential future value of any long-term incentives.

Which science and research companies sponsor E-3 visas in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania has a concentration of life sciences and pharmaceutical employers with documented E-3 and specialty occupation sponsorship history. Companies including Merck, GSK, and Pfizer maintain research operations in the Philadelphia area, while Pittsburgh hosts university medical centers and technology research labs. Checking DOL Labor Condition Application filing records through OFLC can confirm which employers have recently certified roles in your occupation.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most science and research E-3 sponsorship jobs?
The Philadelphia metro area, including the surrounding counties of Montgomery and Chester, accounts for the highest concentration of life sciences and pharmaceutical research roles in the state. Pittsburgh is a secondary hub, anchored by Carnegie Mellon University and University of Pittsburgh research programs. Smaller clusters exist in the Lehigh Valley and around Penn State University in State College for research-oriented positions.
What types of science and research roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship?
Roles that require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related scientific field generally qualify as specialty occupations for E-3 purposes. In Pennsylvania's science sector, this commonly includes research scientists, biostatisticians, computational biologists, clinical research associates, laboratory scientists, and data scientists with domain-specific credentials. O*NET occupation profiles can help you verify whether a given role meets the educational requirement USCIS applies to specialty occupation determinations.
How do I find science and research E-3 sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa type and state, so you can search for science and research roles in Pennsylvania where employers have demonstrated E-3 or specialty occupation sponsorship history. This is more targeted than a general job search because it surfaces employers with verified DOL filing records relevant to your situation, helping you prioritize applications to organizations already familiar with the E-3 process.
Are there any state-specific considerations for E-3 sponsorship in Pennsylvania's science sector?
Pennsylvania does not impose additional state-level visa sponsorship requirements on employers, but the density of federally funded research institutions in the state means some roles are tied to grants or contracts that carry specific hiring compliance requirements. University and hospital-affiliated research positions may also involve credentialing steps beyond the E-3 itself, such as laboratory certifications or IRB approvals, that affect start-date timelines and should be factored into your planning.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 science & research jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
