Search Construction Jobs in PennsylvaniaConstruction Green Card Sponsorship Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
Which construction companies sponsor Green Card visas in Pennsylvania?
Large general contractors with active Pennsylvania operations, including Turner Construction, Skanska, and Gilbane Building Company, have filed Green Card petitions for construction professionals. Specialty subcontractors in electrical, mechanical, and civil work also sponsor periodically, particularly for roles requiring advanced technical credentials. Sponsorship decisions depend on the specific role, the employer's legal resources, and their ability to complete the PERM labor certification process.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most construction Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia generates the highest volume of construction sponsorship activity in Pennsylvania, driven by ongoing commercial development, hospital construction, and infrastructure investment. Pittsburgh is a strong secondary market, with major projects tied to university expansions and industrial redevelopment. The Lehigh Valley, particularly Allentown and Bethlehem, sees demand in warehouse and logistics construction due to its proximity to major distribution corridors along the I-78 and I-81 corridors.
What types of construction roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Pennsylvania?
Roles that most commonly qualify include civil engineers, structural engineers, construction project managers, estimators, and safety managers, where a specific bachelor's degree or higher is typically required. These positions meet the specialty occupation or skilled worker standards used in EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card categories. General labor and entry-level trade positions are less commonly sponsored, though EB-3 unskilled worker petitions exist and are filed by some contractors for persistent hard-to-fill roles.
How do I find construction Green Card sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate lists construction jobs in Pennsylvania where employers have indicated Green Card sponsorship availability, letting you filter by visa type and state rather than sorting through general job postings manually. Because construction sponsorship in Pennsylvania is concentrated among larger contractors and specialty firms, filtering specifically for Green Card-eligible roles saves significant time. Creating a profile on Migrate Mate lets you match directly with employers actively seeking sponsored candidates in the Pennsylvania construction market.
Are there any Pennsylvania-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in construction?
Pennsylvania's prevailing wage requirements, set under both federal Davis-Bacon rules and state public works law, affect the wage an employer must pay and certify during the PERM labor certification process. Employers on publicly funded projects in Pennsylvania must document that sponsored workers are paid at least the applicable prevailing wage, which can add complexity to the PERM filing. Projects tied to Pennsylvania's infrastructure investment programs often involve these wage obligations, so candidates should confirm with their employer how this affects the sponsorship timeline.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card construction jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
