Search Agriculture Jobs in PennsylvaniaAgriculture H-2B Sponsorship Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
Which agriculture companies sponsor H-2B visas in Pennsylvania?
Pennsylvania's most active H-2B agriculture sponsors include mushroom growers in Chester and Delaware counties, Christmas tree farms in Monroe and Pike counties, and nursery and sod operations across Lancaster and York counties. Phillips Mushroom Farms is among the largest and most consistent filers. Fruit orchards in Adams County and vegetable growers in the Cumberland Valley also file H-2B Labor Condition Applications seasonally through OFLC.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most agriculture H-2B sponsorship jobs?
Chester County leads Pennsylvania for agriculture H-2B volume, driven largely by its concentration of mushroom farms. Adams County, centered around Gettysburg, generates significant orchard and fruit-picking demand. Lancaster and York counties are active for nursery, greenhouse, and produce roles. In the northeast, Monroe and Pike counties see consistent H-2B filings from Christmas tree and sod farms, particularly between October and December.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship in Pennsylvania?
H-2B agriculture roles in Pennsylvania include mushroom harvesters and packers, nursery and greenhouse workers, Christmas tree cutters and field laborers, fruit pickers, sod farm workers, and general crop production hands. These positions qualify because they are seasonal and temporary by nature, not because they are agricultural in the statutory sense covered by H-2A visa. Employers must demonstrate a genuine temporary need tied to a predictable seasonal peak.
How do I find agriculture H-2B sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by visa type, state, and industry, making it straightforward to browse verified agriculture H-2B openings in Pennsylvania without sorting through unsponsored listings. You can search by county or employer to target Chester County mushroom operations, Adams County orchards, or Lancaster County nurseries specifically. Employers on Migrate Mate have documented H-2B Labor Condition Application filing history, so sponsorship intent is confirmed rather than assumed.
Are there any Pennsylvania-specific considerations for agriculture H-2B sponsorship?
Pennsylvania's mushroom industry operates on a unique production cycle that does not align neatly with traditional outdoor growing seasons, which affects how employers structure their H-2B temporary need filings with OFLC. Workers employed in mushroom houses are covered under H-2B, not H-2A, because mushrooms are legally classified as a commodity rather than an agricultural crop under the Immigration and Nationality Act. Employers must also comply with Pennsylvania's applicable state labor and housing standards for temporary foreign workers.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B agriculture jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
