Which medical devices companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Tennessee?
Tennessee-based medical devices employers with documented STEM OPT hiring include Smith+Nephew in Memphis, which has a significant orthopedic manufacturing presence, Medline Industries, and device divisions affiliated with Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Larger contract manufacturers and original equipment manufacturers in the state have also filed Labor Condition Applications for engineering and quality roles, which indicates a pattern of sponsoring international candidates.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most medical devices F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Nashville leads Tennessee for medical devices STEM OPT opportunities, driven by its hospital network and affiliated device suppliers. Memphis is a secondary hub anchored by orthopedic and surgical device companies, particularly around the medical corridor near the medical district. Knoxville and the Oak Ridge corridor attract candidates in biomedical instrumentation and materials science roles connected to research institutions and advanced manufacturing facilities in East Tennessee.
What types of medical devices roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that commonly qualify have a direct connection to a STEM degree. In Tennessee's medical devices sector, these include biomedical engineering, quality engineering, regulatory affairs, manufacturing process engineering, R&D engineering, and software development for embedded medical systems. The role must appear on an employer's E-Verify enrollment, the employer must sign a training plan through your DSO, and the position must align with your degree field for STEM OPT extension eligibility.
How do I find medical devices F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa type and state, so you can search for medical devices F-1 STEM OPT roles in Tennessee without manually screening hundreds of postings. Because Migrate Mate surfaces DOL Labor Condition Application filing history, you can identify which Tennessee employers have actually sponsored international candidates in device engineering and quality roles, rather than relying on unverified claims in job descriptions.
Are there any Tennessee-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in medical devices?
Tennessee does not impose additional state-level work authorization requirements beyond federal STEM OPT rules, but medical devices roles in the state often involve FDA-regulated manufacturing environments where background checks and drug screenings are standard. Employers in Tennessee's device sector who hold FDA facility registrations are generally familiar with international hiring compliance. Confirming that a prospective employer is enrolled in E-Verify before accepting an offer is essential for STEM OPT extension eligibility.
