Which agriculture companies sponsor Green Card visas in Virginia?
Poultry and meat processing companies are among the most active sponsors in Virginia, including Perdue Farms and Mountaire Farms, which operate processing facilities on the Eastern Shore. Larger food and agribusiness operations, including grain cooperatives and food manufacturers in the Shenandoah Valley, have also filed PERM labor certifications for production, supervisory, and technical roles. Sponsorship activity varies by facility size and workforce turnover.
Which cities in Virginia have the most agriculture Green Card sponsorship jobs?
The Eastern Shore cities of Accomac and Temperanceville see significant sponsorship activity tied to poultry processing facilities. The Shenandoah Valley corridor, including Harrisonburg and Staunton, concentrates food processing and agricultural production employers. Northern Virginia's outer counties support agribusiness and farm management operations. Sponsorship volume tends to follow where large-scale processing plants and commercial farming operations are located.
What types of agriculture roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Virginia?
Roles qualifying for sponsorship most commonly include food scientists, agricultural engineers, farm managers, quality assurance supervisors, and skilled production technicians. EB-3 unskilled or skilled worker categories are used for processing plant positions, while EB-2 applies to roles requiring advanced degrees or specialized expertise. The employer must demonstrate through PERM that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the specific position being sponsored.
How do I find agriculture Green Card sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate aggregates agriculture jobs with verified Green Card sponsorship in Virginia, letting you filter specifically by visa type and state rather than sifting through general job postings. Because PERM-based sponsorship requires a specific employer commitment, searching a focused platform like Migrate Mate helps identify which Virginia agriculture employers are actively filing. Pair this with checking DOL OFLC disclosure data to verify a company's PERM filing history before applying.
Are there state-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in Virginia agriculture?
Virginia does not administer its own immigration process, but state labor laws and agricultural workforce regulations affect how employers structure sponsorship offers. Virginia's strong poultry and food processing sector means many sponsorships go through the EB-3 category with PERM certification, which requires employers to complete prevailing wage determinations and recruitment steps under federal DOL rules. Processing timelines for PERM can extend 12 to 24 months before the I-140 petition stage even begins.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card agriculture jobs in Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
