Which artificial intelligence companies sponsor H-1B visas in Virginia?
Virginia's Northern Virginia corridor is home to some of the most active H-1B sponsors in artificial intelligence. Booz Allen Hamilton, Leidos, Amazon Web Services, Capital One, and SAIC regularly file H-1B petitions for AI and machine learning roles. A significant number of federal contractors and defense technology firms in the Tysons Corner, Reston, and Arlington areas also sponsor H-1B workers for AI-related positions.
Which cities in Virginia have the most artificial intelligence H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Northern Virginia dominates, with Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, and McLean concentrating the highest volume of artificial intelligence H-1B sponsorship activity. These areas sit within the D.C. metro technology corridor and host major cloud computing campuses, federal contractors, and financial technology firms. Richmond is a secondary market, with financial services companies like Capital One maintaining a significant AI engineering presence there.
What types of artificial intelligence roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Roles that consistently qualify include machine learning engineer, data scientist, AI research scientist, natural language processing engineer, computer vision engineer, and AI infrastructure engineer. These positions typically require at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a closely related field, which satisfies the H-1B specialty occupation requirement. Generalist roles without a clearly defined degree requirement in a specific field are less likely to qualify.
How do I find artificial intelligence H-1B sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type (H-1B), industry (artificial intelligence), and state (Virginia) to see roles where employers have a documented history of sponsorship. This saves significant time compared to filtering through general job boards where sponsorship availability is rarely disclosed upfront. Migrate Mate surfaces Virginia AI roles from employers already active in the H-1B process.
Are there any Virginia-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in artificial intelligence?
Virginia's high concentration of federal contractors introduces an important consideration: some AI roles require U.S. security clearances, which H-1B holders and other non-U.S. persons are generally unable to obtain. This limits eligibility for certain defense-focused positions. However, many commercial AI roles at Virginia-based firms, particularly in cloud services, fintech, and consulting, do not require clearances and are fully accessible to H-1B visa holders.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B artificial intelligence jobs in Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
