Which medical devices companies sponsor H-1B visas in Virginia?
Several major medical devices companies with Virginia operations have filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications in recent years, including Siemens Healthineers, Philips Healthcare, Becton Dickinson, and Inova Health System for device-adjacent clinical roles. Smaller contract manufacturers and health-tech firms concentrated in the Northern Virginia and Richmond corridors also appear in DOL disclosure data as active H-1B sponsors.
Which cities in Virginia have the most medical devices H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Northern Virginia, particularly the Tysons Corner and Reston areas, concentrates the largest share of medical devices H-1B roles due to proximity to federal health agencies and the D.C. metro talent pool. Richmond has a growing life sciences cluster with device manufacturers and distributors. Hampton Roads sees smaller but consistent demand, primarily in defense-adjacent medical technology companies.
What types of medical devices roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Virginia?
Roles that require a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field are most likely to qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B rules. In Virginia's medical devices sector, this commonly includes biomedical engineers, regulatory affairs specialists, quality assurance engineers, software engineers developing embedded or clinical systems, and clinical applications specialists with technical degrees in biomedical science or engineering disciplines.
How do I find medical devices H-1B sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate aggregates H-1B visa sponsorship jobs specifically filtered by industry and state, making it straightforward to browse medical devices roles in Virginia without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by visa type and location to surface relevant openings from employers who have a documented history of filing H-1B petitions in the medical devices space across Northern Virginia, Richmond, and beyond.
Are there any Virginia-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in the medical devices industry?
Virginia's proximity to the FDA headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland means many medical devices employers in the Northern Virginia corridor hire heavily for regulatory and compliance roles, which often require advanced degrees and support H-1B sponsorship. State-level business incentives have also attracted contract device manufacturers to Virginia, broadening the employer base beyond multinational corporations. Candidates should verify each employer's individual sponsorship history before applying.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B medical devices jobs in Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
