Which medical devices companies sponsor H-1B visas in Utah?
Merit Medical Systems, headquartered in South Jordan, is one of Utah's most active H-1B visa sponsors in the medical devices sector. Becton Dickinson, Natus Medical, and Integra LifeSciences also have Utah operations with documented H-1B filing histories. Smaller contract manufacturers and device startups in the Provo-Orem corridor occasionally sponsor H-1B workers for specialized engineering and quality assurance positions, though sponsorship frequency varies by role and headcount.
Which cities in Utah have the most medical devices H-1B sponsorship jobs?
The Salt Lake City metro area, including South Jordan and Sandy, concentrates the largest share of Utah's medical devices H-1B jobs due to the headquarters presence of Merit Medical Systems and regional offices of larger device companies. Provo and Orem in Utah County form a secondary cluster, supported by proximity to Brigham Young University's engineering graduates. Ogden hosts some manufacturing operations, though sponsorship activity there is more limited.
What types of medical devices roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Utah?
Roles that commonly qualify require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. In Utah's medical devices sector, these include biomedical engineers, electrical and mechanical engineers working on device design, regulatory affairs specialists with science or engineering backgrounds, quality engineers, and software engineers developing embedded or cloud-connected device systems. Roles framed as general manufacturing or assembly positions typically do not meet the H-1B specialty occupation standard.
How do I find medical devices H-1B sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters roles by visa sponsorship type, industry, and state, making it straightforward to browse medical devices H-1B jobs in Utah without sifting through listings that don't sponsor. Beyond job searching, focusing your applications on companies with established H-1B filing histories in Utah, particularly those in the South Jordan and Provo corridors, increases the likelihood that a recruiter is already familiar with the sponsorship process.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in Utah's medical devices sector?
Utah does not have state-level visa sponsorship requirements, so the federal H-1B process applies in full. One industry-specific consideration is that medical devices roles often intersect with FDA regulatory work, which can strengthen a specialty occupation argument when the position clearly requires domain-specific education. Utah's relatively lower cost of operations compared to coastal hubs means some smaller device companies may be willing sponsors but may have less in-house immigration infrastructure, making attorney-supported petitions more common for first-time sponsorships.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B medical devices jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
