Search Fintech Jobs in WisconsinFintech OPT Sponsorship Jobs in Wisconsin: Frequently Asked Questions
Which fintech companies in Wisconsin sponsor F-1 OPT visas?
Fiserv, headquartered in Milwaukee, is one of the most active fintech employers in Wisconsin and has a strong track record of hiring international students on OPT for software engineering, data analytics, and product roles. Northwestern Mutual and Johnson Financial Group also hire OPT-authorized candidates for technology and quantitative positions. Smaller fintech startups in the Milwaukee and Madison areas participate as well, though sponsorship practices vary by team and role.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most fintech F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee is the primary hub for fintech F-1 OPT jobs in Wisconsin, driven by the presence of Fiserv, Northwestern Mutual, and a growing cluster of payments and insurtech companies. Madison is the second-strongest market, supported by the University of Wisconsin's technology ecosystem and financial services firms expanding their engineering teams. Smaller opportunities exist in Green Bay and Waukesha, primarily within regional banks building out digital product teams.
What types of fintech roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Roles in software engineering, data science, financial analysis, cybersecurity, and product management are the most common F-1 OPT-eligible positions in Wisconsin fintech. These roles generally require a degree directly related to the job function, which is a core requirement for OPT authorization. Positions in payments technology, risk modeling, and cloud infrastructure are particularly active given Wisconsin's concentration in payment processing and insurance technology firms.
How do I find fintech F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and filters jobs by visa type, including F-1 OPT, and by industry, so you can search fintech roles in Wisconsin without sorting through positions that don't offer work authorization support. Using Migrate Mate, you can identify which Wisconsin fintech employers are actively hiring OPT candidates and apply directly to roles that match your degree field, which matters for OPT eligibility.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for F-1 OPT sponsorship in fintech?
Wisconsin fintech employers, particularly in Milwaukee's payments and insurance technology sector, often require OPT candidates to have a STEM-designated degree to qualify for the 24-month STEM OPT extension, since many technical roles last beyond the standard 12-month OPT period. Students from UW-Madison, Marquette University, or Milwaukee School of Engineering should confirm their program's STEM designation with their Designated School Official before accepting an offer, as this affects how long they can work without transitioning to H-1B visa sponsorship.
