Search Insurance Jobs in WisconsinInsurance OPT Sponsorship Jobs in Wisconsin: Frequently Asked Questions
Which insurance companies in Wisconsin sponsor F-1 OPT visas?
Northwestern Mutual and American Family Insurance, both headquartered in Wisconsin, have established track records of hiring international talent in technical and analytical roles. Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point and Acuity Insurance in Sheboygan also hire F-1 OPT workers for actuarial, data, and underwriting positions. Sponsorship decisions are made at the individual hiring manager or HR level, so direct outreach to recruiters is worthwhile.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most insurance F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee is the primary hub, anchored by Northwestern Mutual's headquarters and a dense concentration of regional insurance offices. Madison follows closely, with American Family Insurance headquartered there and strong ties to University of Wisconsin graduates. Stevens Point and Sheboygan are secondary markets worth considering for candidates open to smaller-city roles at carriers like Sentry and Acuity.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Actuarial analyst, data scientist, underwriting analyst, risk analyst, and financial analyst roles are the most common F-1 OPT placements in Wisconsin's insurance sector. These positions typically require quantitative degrees in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or finance. Roles that align with STEM OPT extension eligibility, meaning those under SOC codes designated as STEM, give candidates a longer work authorization window, which makes employers more willing to engage.
How do I find insurance F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find insurance roles in Wisconsin that are open to F-1 OPT candidates. The platform filters jobs by visa type and industry, so you can focus specifically on Wisconsin-based insurance employers who have indicated openness to sponsoring international workers. Filtering by STEM-eligible roles is particularly useful given the longer OPT period available to candidates in technical positions.
Are there any state-specific or industry-specific considerations for F-1 OPT sponsorship in Wisconsin's insurance sector?
Wisconsin's insurance industry is heavily regulated by the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance, and many actuarial and compliance roles require passing professional exams through the Society of Actuaries or Casualty Actuarial Society. Employers generally prefer OPT candidates who are already progressing through exam sittings. For STEM OPT, the employer must be E-Verify enrolled, and Wisconsin's larger insurance carriers typically meet this requirement, though confirming enrollment before applying is advisable.
