Which accounting companies sponsor F-1 OPT visas in Wisconsin?
Milwaukee-headquartered firms like Wipfli and Baker Tilly have histories of hiring international accounting graduates on OPT. Large employers in insurance and financial services, including Northwestern Mutual and Fiserv, also hire for accounting roles. Regional CPA firms and corporate finance departments at Wisconsin manufacturers such as Johnson Controls and Rockwell Automation are additional sources of OPT-friendly accounting positions.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most accounting F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee is Wisconsin's primary market for accounting OPT jobs, hosting the largest concentration of public accounting firms, financial institutions, and corporate headquarters. Madison follows closely, driven by state government agencies, the University of Wisconsin system's affiliated organizations, and a growing tech sector with in-house accounting needs. Green Bay offers opportunities through manufacturing and insurance employers, particularly in cost accounting and internal audit roles.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Roles that align directly with an accounting or finance degree qualify most reliably. These include staff accountant, audit associate, tax associate, financial analyst, and cost accountant positions. Employers in public accounting, corporate finance, and internal audit regularly hire OPT workers for these titles. Roles requiring a CPA license may present additional complexity, as licensure timelines can interact with OPT authorization periods.
How do I find accounting F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for international students and filters accounting jobs in Wisconsin by F-1 OPT sponsorship, saving you from sorting through employers who don't support work authorization. Focus your search on Milwaukee and Madison, where accounting hiring is most active. Targeting mid-size regional firms and corporate finance teams at Wisconsin manufacturers tends to produce more OPT-receptive results than applying broadly to all posted roles.
Are there any Wisconsin-specific considerations for F-1 OPT accounting jobs?
Wisconsin's accounting market leans heavily on public accounting firms serving manufacturing and agriculture clients, so familiarity with those industries can strengthen your application. OPT in accounting typically falls under the standard 12-month authorization; STEM OPT extension is generally not available for accounting-only programs unless the degree is classified under a qualifying STEM CIP code. Confirm your program's CIP code with your Designated School Official before assuming STEM extension eligibility.
