Nurse Manager Jobs in USA with Visa Sponsorship
Nurse Manager positions regularly qualify for H-1B visa and EB-2/EB-3 green card sponsorship, as healthcare administration roles requiring bachelor's degrees meet specialty occupation requirements. Most sponsoring employers are hospitals, health systems, and large medical practices with established immigration programs. The nursing shortage has increased employer willingness to sponsor qualified international candidates with supervisory experience.

Target Magnet Recognition hospitals
Magnet-designated hospitals often have structured sponsorship programs and value international nursing expertise. They're more likely to sponsor management roles given their focus on nursing excellence and leadership development.
Emphasize your supervisory credentials
USCIS looks for managerial duties that require specialized knowledge. Document your experience with budget oversight, staff scheduling, quality metrics, and regulatory compliance to strengthen your specialty occupation case.
Consider starting as Staff Nurse first
Some employers sponsor Staff Nurses initially, then promote to management internally. This path can be faster than competing for direct manager sponsorship, especially at hospitals with nursing leadership pipelines.
Highlight your BSN and certifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing strongly supports specialty occupation requirements. Additional certifications like CNML, NEA-BC, or specialty nursing credentials demonstrate the advanced knowledge USCIS expects for H-1B approval.
Research state licensing requirements early
Each state has different RN licensing requirements for international nurses. Some require CGFNS certification or additional coursework. Factor licensing timelines into your sponsorship timeline and job search strategy.
Focus on hospitals with teaching affiliations
Academic medical centers and teaching hospitals frequently sponsor international healthcare professionals. They understand the immigration process better and often have dedicated immigration coordinators to support sponsored employees.

Find Nurse Manager JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Do I need a BSN for Nurse Manager H-1B sponsorship?
While not legally required, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing significantly strengthens your H-1B case. USCIS expects specialty occupation roles to require bachelor's degrees in specific fields. An ADN plus management experience can work, but BSN holders face much lower denial risk for nursing management positions.
Can international Nurse Managers get EB-2 green cards?
Yes, most Nurse Manager positions qualify for EB-2 classification if you have a bachelor's degree in nursing. The role's supervisory responsibilities and requirement for specialized nursing knowledge typically meet EB-2 professional standards. Processing times vary by country of birth, with some facing longer waits.
How to find Nurse Manager jobs with visa sponsorship?
To find Nurse Manager jobs with visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which specializes in connecting international healthcare professionals with employers offering visa support. Focus your search on major hospitals, healthcare systems, and nursing homes that commonly sponsor H-1B and EB-3 visas for experienced nursing professionals. These employers typically seek candidates with management experience and advanced nursing qualifications for leadership positions.
What's the H-1B approval rate for nursing management roles?
USCIS doesn't publish role-specific approval rates, but healthcare management positions generally have favorable odds when properly documented. The key is demonstrating that your specific role requires specialized nursing knowledge and supervisory skills that warrant a bachelor's degree requirement.
Do Nurse Managers need PERM labor certification?
Yes, for EB-2 and EB-3 green cards. Your employer must prove no qualified U.S. workers are available for the specific management position. Given the nursing shortage, PERM success rates are typically high for nursing roles, but the process takes 18-24 months.
Can I manage nurses while on H-1B status?
Yes, supervising nursing staff is explicitly allowed on H-1B status as long as it's within your approved role scope. Your I-129 petition should specifically mention supervisory duties, budget oversight, and staff management responsibilities to ensure USCIS approval covers all your job functions.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for sponsored Nurse Manager jobs?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
