VP Sales Jobs in Maryland: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a vp sales in Maryland?
Most vp sales roles in Maryland require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, often paired with an MBA for senior appointments. Maryland imposes no state-issued license specific to sales leadership, so progression typically follows a path from individual contributor through sales management. Employers in Maryland's technology and federal contracting sectors place particular weight on experience selling to government agencies and complex enterprise clients.
How much do VP saleses make in Maryland?
VP saleses in Maryland earn a median of about $137,150 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $67,270 for the lowest 10% to over $257,350 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire vp saless in Maryland?
Employers hiring vp saless in Maryland right now include Morgan Stanley, Marriott International, and Aon, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Maryland's concentration of defense contractors, cybersecurity firms, and financial institutions means demand for sales leadership tends to remain active even during broader hiring slowdowns.
Which Maryland cities have the most vp sales jobs?
Baltimore, Bethesda, and Rockville lead for vp sales openings in Maryland. Baltimore drives volume through its financial services, healthcare technology, and professional services sectors, while the Montgomery County and Prince George's County suburbs generate strong demand from federal contractors and software companies with government-facing divisions headquartered close to the D.C. beltway.
Are there remote vp sales jobs in Maryland?
Yes, and more than most senior roles allow, since vp sales positions focused on enterprise or national accounts often operate with significant location flexibility. About 58% of vp sales openings tied to Maryland are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, though roles that require in-person executive presence with federal clients or local sales teams are typically on-site or hybrid in the Baltimore-D.C. corridor.
How can I get hired as a vp sales in Maryland with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving from a high-performing senior account executive or regional sales manager role into a vp sales position, rather than making a direct entry from outside management. Maryland employers in the federal contracting and cybersecurity sectors, including large systems integrators based in the D.C. suburbs, frequently promote from within or hire directors with strong quota attainment records. Building a verifiable record of team leadership and revenue ownership in a named-account or government-facing environment is the credential that opens doors at the vp level.
