Account Manager Jobs in Iowa: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a account manager in Iowa?
Most account manager roles in Iowa require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, though no state-issued license is required for the general role. Employers in Iowa's insurance sector may require candidates to hold or obtain an Iowa insurance producer license through the Iowa Insurance Division before managing those accounts. Building experience in customer service, inside sales, or industry-specific roles common in Iowa, such as agricultural supply or financial services, is a practical path into the position.
How much do account managers make in Iowa?
Account managers in Iowa earn a median of about $62,420 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $35,700 for the lowest 10% to over $119,060 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire account managers in Iowa?
Companies currently hiring account managers in Iowa include Transamerica, Rent-A-Center, and Airgas, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Iowa's concentration of insurance carriers, agricultural technology firms, and regional financial institutions means account manager demand tends to be consistent throughout the year rather than tied to seasonal spikes.
Which Iowa cities have the most account manager jobs?
Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and Davenport have the most account manager openings in Iowa. Des Moines drives the largest share of listings as the state capital and home to major insurance and financial services headquarters, while Cedar Rapids and Davenport benefit from their manufacturing bases, regional distribution hubs, and proximity to large agricultural and industrial clients that require dedicated account support.
Are there remote account manager jobs in Iowa?
Yes, and more than many fields. About 54% of account manager openings tied to Iowa are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the nature of a role built around phone calls, video meetings, and CRM-based relationship management. The most remote-friendly positions tend to be in software, insurance, and national B2B accounts where client visits are infrequent and communication happens digitally.
How can I get hired as a account manager in Iowa with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting in an inside sales representative or customer service coordinator role at one of Iowa's large insurance carriers, agricultural technology companies, or regional banks, which frequently promote into account management from within. Principal Financial Group and Corteva Agriscience, for example, run structured onboarding programs that develop client-facing skills. Completing an Iowa insurance producer license through the Iowa Insurance Division adds immediate credibility for insurance-adjacent roles, and building a record of quota attainment or client retention in any sales-adjacent role strengthens a first account manager application significantly.
