Most accounting analyst positions in Tennessee require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. While the role itself is not state-licensed, candidates who hold or are actively pursuing a CPA license through the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy gain a clear advantage in competitive hiring processes. Employers in healthcare, manufacturing, and government sectors in Tennessee commonly require this credential or its equivalent for advancement.
How much do accounting analysts make in Tennessee?
Accounting analysts in Tennessee earn a median of about $86,570 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,920 for the lowest 10% to over $133,280 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire accounting analysts in Tennessee?
Employers hiring accounting analysts in Tennessee right now include Hilton, SL America, and Vanderbilt University, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's concentration of large healthcare systems, logistics companies, and government-affiliated employers means accounting analyst demand is spread across both private and public-sector organizations throughout the state.
Which Tennessee cities have the most accounting analyst jobs?
Memphis, Nashville, and Clinton have the most accounting analyst openings in Tennessee. Nashville leads because of its dense concentration of healthcare corporations, financial services firms, and corporate headquarters, while Memphis draws significant volume from logistics and distribution companies, and Knoxville benefits from the presence of the Tennessee Valley Authority and University of Tennessee system operations.
Are there remote accounting analyst jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 50% of accounting analyst openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting that most of the work involves software-based analysis, reporting, and reconciliation rather than on-site tasks. Financial reporting and accounts analysis are the sub-areas most frequently offered with flexible or fully remote arrangements.
How can I get hired as a accounting analyst in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an accounting or finance internship, ideally with a large Tennessee employer such as a Nashville-area healthcare system or a Knoxville-based government contractor. Candidates coming from adjacent roles such as accounts payable specialist, billing coordinator, or audit assistant often move into analyst positions. Pursuing CPA candidacy through the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy and building proficiency in Excel and a major ERP system significantly strengthens an entry-level application.
