Accounting Intern Jobs in Utah: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a accounting intern in Utah?
The most direct path is enrolling in an accredited accounting or finance program at a Utah university and applying for internships during your sophomore or junior year. Utah does not require interns to hold a CPA license, but coursework aligned with the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing CPA exam requirements, including courses in auditing and taxation, makes candidates significantly more competitive with firms and corporate finance departments in the state.
Which companies hire accounting interns in Utah?
Employers hiring accounting interns in Utah right now include University of Utah, Intermountain Health, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Utah's mix of large healthcare systems, tech companies headquartered in the Silicon Slopes corridor, and regional public accounting firms means internship opportunities appear across several distinct industries rather than being concentrated in just one sector.
Which Utah cities have the most accounting intern jobs?
Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Lehi account for the largest share of accounting intern openings in Utah. Salt Lake City leads because it hosts the state's largest corporate headquarters, major hospital systems, and the regional offices of national public accounting firms, while Provo and Orem benefit from the dense concentration of tech companies and the proximity to Brigham Young University, which feeds a strong pipeline of accounting talent and employer partnerships.
Are there remote accounting intern jobs in Utah?
Yes, and more than many entry-level roles, since accounting work is often document-based and deliverable-driven. About 35% of accounting intern openings tied to Utah are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader flexibility in the field. Tax preparation, financial analysis, and accounts payable tasks are most commonly offered remotely, while audit rotations and roles requiring access to on-site financial records tend to stay in-person.
How can I get hired as a accounting intern in Utah with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is applying to structured internship programs at Utah's large public accounting firms, which routinely recruit students with no prior work experience who demonstrate strong academic performance and foundational coursework. Firms like regional CPA practices in Salt Lake City and corporate finance teams at healthcare and technology employers often run semester and summer programs designed for first- or second-year students. Completing volunteer bookkeeping for a campus organization, earning a QuickBooks certification, or passing even one CPA exam section gives an application a measurable edge.
Where can I find and apply to accounting intern jobs in Utah?
You can find and apply to accounting intern jobs in Utah on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level, preferred location, and area of accounting, then apply directly to the ones that fit. No signup is required to view the openings.
