Accounting Manager Jobs in Missouri: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a accounting manager in Missouri?
Most Missouri employers require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance combined with several years of progressive experience, including time in a supervisory role. While the accounting manager title itself carries no state-issued license requirement, holding a CPA license through the Missouri State Board of Accountancy strengthens your candidacy significantly and is listed as preferred or required by many corporate and public-sector employers in the state.
Which companies hire accounting managers in Missouri?
Employers hiring accounting managers in Missouri right now include Spectrum Brands, State of Missouri, and Essent Guaranty, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Missouri's concentration of financial services firms, large health systems, and manufacturing headquarters means consistent demand across both corporate and regional employer types throughout the year.
Which Missouri cities have the most accounting manager jobs?
St. Louis, Kansas City, and Clayton are the Missouri cities with the most accounting manager openings, reflecting where the largest corporate headquarters, regional banking centers, and health system campuses are based. St. Louis and Kansas City together drive the majority of demand, while smaller metros like Springfield see steady openings tied to regional employers in healthcare, retail, and distribution.
Are there remote accounting manager jobs in Missouri?
Yes, and more than many finance roles, since accounting managers spend much of their time in reporting systems and spreadsheets rather than on a plant floor. About 50% of accounting manager openings tied to Missouri are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting genuine flexibility among corporate employers. Financial reporting, budgeting, and audit oversight functions are the segments most commonly offered on a remote or hybrid basis.
How can I get hired as a accounting manager in Missouri with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into an accounting manager role from a senior accountant or accounting supervisor position, where you already manage close cycles or oversee a small team. Missouri's large employers, including health systems such as BJC HealthCare and Mercy, along with manufacturing firms in the St. Louis and Kansas City corridors, regularly post senior accountant roles that develop into management tracks. Earning your CPA through the Missouri State Board of Accountancy while in a staff role accelerates that progression considerably.
Where can I find and apply to accounting manager jobs in Missouri?
You can find and apply to accounting manager jobs in Missouri on Migrate Mate, which lists current Missouri openings updated regularly. Search the listings to find roles that fit your experience level, preferred city, and industry, then apply directly to the ones that match.
