Position Overview for Assistant Sales Catering Manager

We are seeking an energetic and motivated entry level Assistant Catering Sales Manager to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will drive the growth of our catering services by developing new business opportunities, managing key accounts, and delivering exceptional customer experience. This role serves as the primary point of contact for clients, guiding them through menu selection, event planning, and logistical coordination while ensuring an exceptional customer experience.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, personable, and sales-driven, with a strong ability to understand client needs and translate them into tailored proposals. They work closely with the culinary, operations, and service teams to ensure each event is executed seamlessly and meets the company’s quality standards.

Key responsibilities include managing incoming leads, preparing proposals and contracts, conducting site visits, and maintaining accurate event details in the company’s systems. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple events simultaneously, and maintaining a professional and polished demeanor when interacting with clients.

Responsibilities for Assistant Sales Catering Manager

• Respond to incoming inquiries promptly and professionally, providing detailed information on menus, pricing, and event capabilities.
• Meet with clients to understand event needs, provide recommendations, and guide them through menu and service options.
• Prepare customized proposals, contracts, and event orders with accurate pricing and detailed specifications.
• Schedule and lead venue tours, tastings, and client meetings as needed.
• Coordinate with culinary, operations, and service teams to ensure all event details are clearly communicated and executed to standard.
• Coordinate rental orders for event set up, including tents, dance floors, lighting packages, furniture, tables, chairs, linens etc.
• Maintains great relationships with our vendor partners, including event planners & rental companies, keeping them up to date on any changes to the event orders.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date client records, proposals, and event documentation in the company’s catering software.
• Monitor event timelines, deadlines, and payment schedules to ensure compliance with company policies.
• Assist with on-site event oversight when necessary to support clients and ensure satisfaction.
• Maintain awareness of menu updates, seasonal offerings, and company product knowledge to effectively sell catering services.
• Create detailed event floor plans with a strong understanding of event flow, table sizing, and corresponding linen requirements.
• Meet or exceed monthly and annual sales goals set by management.

Skills for Assistant Sales Catering Manager

• Previous experience in sales, customer service, hospitality, catering, event planning, business development, or a related field is preferred but not required.
• Entry-level candidates with the right personality, work ethic, communication skills, and desire to learn are encouraged to apply.

• Comfortable conducting venue tours, client meetings, and on-site event support.
• Professional, polished presentation skills and a client-focused approach.
• Knowledge of food and beverage operations, menu terminology, and event logistics.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and event days as needed.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for off-site meetings and venue visits.
• Ability to stand, walk, and assist on-site during events when required.
