Spring Arbor University is seeking an individual with teaching experience who is passionate about preparing students to impact the world for Jesus Christ within the vocation of PK-12 Education. The position will begin in January 2027. Review of applicants will begin Sept 21 and continue until the position is filled. Ideally, the new faculty member would start in January 2027.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Teach a full-time (24 semester hour) load of Education courses annually, with a focus on elementary education. The successful candidate will have experience in public education and be familiar with state standards for the preparation of classroom teachers, as well as knowledge of contemporary research and evidence-based best practices in science and/or math curriculum, instruction, and assessment. The candidate should be enthusiastic about teaching and contributing to the department through advising/mentoring students, various activities related to teacher education, and working collegially with fellow faculty to support the elementary education.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
PhD or EdD in Elementary Education or a related area is strongly preferred; master’s degree in Education, Science Education, Educational Leadership, or a related area is required. The terminal degree is required for tenure-track status to be granted. Experience as a certified elementary teacher with at least five years of successful professional teaching in K-12 schools is required, with additional years of experience in teaching or K-12 leadership preferred. State Licensure in Michigan or another state is required. Successful college teaching experience in both traditional campus environments and online is preferred, as is experience with CAEP or other national education accreditation.
