Position Summary

Leads Way Therapeutic Services is seeking qualified, dependable, and compassionate Behavioral Health Specialists to join our team as independent contractors serving clients throughout Ridgeland, South Carolina, and surrounding communities.

Contractors will work with children, adolescents, adults, and families who require behavioral health and community-based support services.

Depending on education, experience, credentials, and service-specific qualifications, contractors may provide:

• Behavior Modification (BMOD)
• Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services (PRS)
• Family Support
• Medicaid Targeted Case Management (MTCM)

Services may be provided in clients' homes, schools, community locations, and other approved service settings.

Compensation

Hourly compensation is determined by education and verifiable relevant experience.

Education & Experience Hourly Rate:

Bachelor's Degree – No Experience $16.00

Bachelor's Degree – With Experience $17.00

Master's Degree – No Experience $19.00

Master's Degree – With Experience $20.00

Relevant experience may include behavioral health, mental health, social services, case management, rehabilitation, child welfare, or other applicable human services experience.

Essential Responsibilities

Contractors may be responsible for:

• Providing direct behavioral interventions and skills training based on individualized treatment goals.
• Assisting clients with reducing challenging behaviors and developing appropriate replacement behaviors.
• Teaching coping, communication, social, independent living, and problem-solving skills.
• Supporting parents and caregivers with strategies to address clients' behavioral and emotional needs.
• Linking and referring eligible clients to medical, behavioral health, educational, social, and community resources.
• Coordinating services with families, schools, providers, and other members of the client's treatment team when appropriate.
• Monitoring client progress toward established treatment goals and objectives.
• Maintaining appropriate professional boundaries with clients and families.
• Completing accurate, detailed, and timely documentation for every service provided.
• Following Leads Way Therapeutic Services policies and procedures and applicable Medicaid, HIPAA, confidentiality, and documentation requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

• Have a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Have reliable transportation.
• Have a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance when required for service delivery.
• Be willing and able to travel throughout Ridgeland and surrounding service areas.
• Have access to a reliable phone and email.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, families, providers, schools, and agency staff.
• Complete electronic documentation accurately and within required deadlines.
• Successfully complete all required background checks, screenings, credentialing, and onboarding requirements.
• Maintain client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
• Attend one mandatory in-person training day before beginning client assignments.

Additional training and credentialing may be required depending on assigned services.

MTCM assignments will only be provided to individuals who meet applicable South Carolina Medicaid MTCM qualification and experience requirements.

Additional documentation may be required during credentialing.

Schedule and Caseload

This is a community-based position. Client assignments and schedules are determined by client needs, authorized services, contractor qualifications, and contractor availability.

Afternoon, evening, and weekend availability is strongly encouraged, as many services are provided outside traditional school and work hours.

Hours and caseloads are not guaranteed.

Independent Contractor Status

This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity, not a traditional employee position.

Contractors are responsible for applicable taxes and other obligations associated with independent contractor status. Contractors must maintain all required credentials and documentation necessary to remain eligible to provide assigned services.

Mandatory In-Person Training

Selected candidates must attend one full day of in-person training before receiving a caseload.

Training will cover:

• Agency policies and operational procedures
• Behavioral health service delivery expectations
• Medicaid documentation and billing compliance
• BIRP progress notes and service verification
• HIPAA, confidentiality, and professional boundaries
• Safety procedures and mandatory reporting
• Service-specific requirements and expectations
