Bookkeeper Jobs in Arkansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a bookkeeper in Arkansas?
Arkansas does not require a state-issued license to work as a bookkeeper, so the path runs through education and voluntary credentials. Most Arkansas employers expect at least an associate degree in accounting or a related field, either from a community college like Arkansas State University-Beebe or the University of Arkansas system. Earning the AIPB Certified Bookkeeper designation or the NACPB Bookkeeping Certification strengthens your candidacy and signals professional competency to hiring managers.
Which companies hire bookkeepers in Arkansas?
Arkansas bookkeeper roles are posted by Arkansas Talent, Tyson Foods Incorporated, and Walmart and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Arkansas's mix of large retail headquarters, regional healthcare networks, and agricultural cooperatives creates consistent demand for bookkeeping talent well beyond the state's largest metros.
Which Arkansas cities have the most bookkeeper jobs?
Little Rock, Bentonville, and Springdale lead Arkansas in bookkeeper openings. Little Rock drives volume as the state capital and home to major healthcare systems and financial services firms, while Fayetteville and Bentonville benefit from the dense concentration of Walmart suppliers, logistics companies, and regional businesses that have grown up around the Northwest Arkansas corridor.
Are there remote bookkeeper jobs in Arkansas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 24% of bookkeeper openings tied to Arkansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how naturally bookkeeping translates to cloud-based tools and digital workflows. Roles focused on accounts payable, payroll processing, and monthly close work tend to be the most amenable to fully remote arrangements.
How can I get hired as a bookkeeper in Arkansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an accounts payable or accounts receivable clerk position, which Arkansas employers in retail, healthcare, and agriculture routinely fill with candidates who hold an associate degree but limited direct bookkeeping experience. Community colleges across Arkansas, including Northwest Arkansas Community College and Pulaski Technical College, offer accounting certificate programs that improve your odds. Completing a QuickBooks Online certification adds a concrete, verifiable skill that small businesses and nonprofits in Arkansas look for when hiring their first bookkeeper.
Where can I find and apply to bookkeeper jobs in Arkansas?
