Business Consultant Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business consultant in Washington?
Washington does not require a state-issued license to work as a business consultant, so the path centers on education and credentials. Most employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field. Earning a recognized credential such as the Certified Management Consultant designation or a Project Management Professional certification meaningfully strengthens your candidacy with Washington's large tech and government contracting employers. Relevant industry experience in Washington's dominant sectors, particularly technology and aerospace, accelerates hiring.
How much do business consultants make in Washington?
Business consultants in Washington earn a median of about $109,170 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $72,910 for the lowest 10% to over $194,090 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business consultants in Washington?
Employers hiring business consultants in Washington right now include U.S. Bank, Insperity, and Banner Bank, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Washington's concentration of enterprise technology companies, federal contractors, and state government agencies creates consistent demand for consultants with experience in both private and public-sector engagements.
Which Washington cities have the most business consultant jobs?
Seattle, Washington State, and Bellevue account for the largest share of business consultant openings in Washington. Seattle and Bellevue dominate because of the dense concentration of global technology firms, management consulting offices, and corporate headquarters in the Puget Sound region, while Olympia draws demand from state government agencies and public-sector contractors that rely heavily on consultant expertise.
Are there remote business consultant jobs in Washington?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 100% of business consultant openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves research, analysis, and client communication rather than on-site presence. Strategy and technology consulting engagements are the most likely to offer fully remote arrangements, while operations and change management roles more often require periodic on-site client work.
How can I get hired as a business consultant in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is targeting analyst or associate consultant roles, which large Washington employers such as Microsoft, Boeing, and regional management consulting firms regularly fill with recent graduates. Roles in business analysis, project coordination, or operations support serve as strong lateral entry points. A bachelor's degree in business or a quantitative field, combined with a PMP or data analytics certification, gives early-career candidates a concrete edge. Washington's active technology sector also hires entry-level strategy and operations roles that lead directly into consulting tracks.
Where can I find and apply to business consultant jobs in Washington?
You can find and apply to business consultant jobs in Washington on Migrate Mate, which lists current Washington openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and target location, and apply directly to the listings that fit.
