Business Development Manager Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a business development manager job in Houston?
Focus your search on Houston's dominant sectors: energy, petrochemicals, healthcare systems, and industrial services. Companies in the Energy Corridor, Texas Medical Center area, and Downtown hire the most. Candidates who can point to measurable revenue growth, existing relationships within those industries, or experience selling into enterprise or mid-market accounts stand out in Houston's competitive but relationship-driven hiring environment.
Which companies hire business development managers in Houston?
Houston business development manager roles are posted by IQVIA, Shamrock Trading Corporation, and DESORT STAFFING and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Houston's employer mix runs from large publicly traded energy and healthcare firms to regional logistics companies and growth-stage technology businesses headquartered in and around the city.
Are there remote business development manager jobs in Houston?
Yes, though business development manager work is relationship-intensive and many roles require in-person client meetings, so full-remote positions are less common than in purely desk-based fields. About 63% of business development manager openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common in technology and healthcare sectors where pipeline management and internal collaboration can happen off-site.
How can I get a business development manager job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is moving up from an inside sales, account coordinator, or sales development representative role at a local energy services, healthcare IT, or logistics company. Houston's large base of mid-sized industrial and B2B firms regularly hire junior business development staff. Demonstrated success in quota-bearing roles, even at smaller companies, and familiarity with Houston's core industries gives entry-level candidates a clear edge over generalist applicants.
Which industries hire the most business development managers in Houston?
Most business development manager openings in Houston sit in Manufacturing and Transportation & Logistics, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Houston's position as the global center of the energy industry, combined with the Texas Medical Center and a growing technology corridor, keeps demand for business development talent concentrated in those sectors year-round.
