Business Development Director Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development director in Texas?
Business development directors in Texas do not require a state-issued license, but most employers expect a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline alongside substantial industry experience. Candidates typically progress through individual contributor sales or partnerships roles before moving into director-level positions. Industries such as energy and defense contracting favor candidates who hold relevant industry certifications, such as those offered through the Project Management Institute or recognized Texas industry associations, alongside a strong record of closing high-value accounts.
Which companies hire business development directors in Texas?
Employers hiring business development directors in Texas right now include Alvarez & Marsal, CVS Health, and Fitch Ratings, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, defense contractors, and energy majors means demand for business development leadership runs deep across multiple industries and company sizes.
Which Texas cities have the most business development director jobs?
Dallas, Houston, and Austin account for the most business development director openings in Texas. Dallas-Fort Worth's density of corporate headquarters and financial services firms drives the largest share of demand, while Houston's energy and petrochemical sector and Austin's fast-growing technology industry create strong, sustained hiring in those metros as well.
Are there remote business development director jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields, because business development work is relationship- and strategy-focused rather than tied to a physical site. About 28% of business development director openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly employers have accepted distributed leadership in this function. Strategic planning, pipeline management, and partner development work are the portions of the role most commonly performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a business development director in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a business development manager or senior account executive role first, then building toward the director title. Large Texas employers in technology and energy, including firms headquartered in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston corridors, regularly hire into rotational leadership development programs that feed director pipelines. Adjacent roles such as sales operations manager, strategic partnerships manager, or regional account director are common lateral moves. Earning a Project Management Professional credential or completing a Texas MBA program strengthens candidacy considerably for candidates without a long director-level record.
Where can I find and apply to business development director jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to business development director jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from employers actively hiring for this role. Search the available positions, find the roles that fit your experience and target industry, and apply directly to the ones that match.
