Job Description
This role is designed to expand the Debt Relief at Achieve ecosystem by sourcing, structuring, and closing new partnerships. As a Director, Wholesale Business Development, you are a true "hunter”. You will own the full deal lifecycle – from market mapping, prospecting and closing independent sales organizations (ISOs) that originate debt relief enrollments with Achieve’s wholesale platform.
What you’ll do:
Prospecting & Pipeline Development
- Build & Execute: Build and manage a robust pipeline of qualified prospects and independent sales organizations (ISOs).
- Relationship Building: Develop owner- and principal-level relationships to drive high-value opportunities from introduction to term sheet.
- Targeting: Drive prospect targeting and messaging strategies to cut through the noise.
- Brand Ambassadorship: Represent Achieve at key industry events and conferences to expand brand presence and generate active deal flow.
Deal Structuring & Negotiation
- Pitching: Prepare and deliver highly persuasive presentations and customized commercial proposals to partner executives.
- Closing: Manage term sheet and contract negotiations with prospective partners, balancing competitive deal structures with unit economics.
Partnership Execution & Management
- Deal Leadership: Act as the primary deal lead from first contact through signed agreement, ensuring a seamless handoff to the operations and partner management teams.
- Internal Collaboration: Partner closely with internal stakeholders (Legal, Compliance, and Operations) to align on partner evaluation, onboarding protocols, and legal frameworks.
Market Intelligence & Strategy
- Market Insights: Conduct continuous market research to identify emerging opportunities and track competitor moves in the debt relief wholesale space.
- Strategic Input: Provide strategic recommendations to leadership based on industry trends, partner feedback, and market dynamics.
- Growth Strategy: Directly contribute to Achieve’s long-term distribution strategy through unique insights gained from the field.
What you’ll bring:
- Proven Sales Track Record: 7+ years of experience in enterprise sales, business development, or strategic partnerships, with a documented history of meeting and exceeding revenue quotas.
- The "Hunter" Mentality: A self-driven, entrepreneurial approach to prospecting with the grit and persistence required to map markets, cold-outreach, and build pipelines from scratch.
- Executive Presence: Exceptional communication, pitching, and relationship-building skills, with a proven comfort level negotiating directly with owners, principals, and C-suite executives.
- Deal-Making Expertise: Strong commercial acumen with experience navigating complex contract negotiations and working alongside Legal and Compliance teams to close deals.
- Industry Background: Experience in debt relief, consumer lending, fintech, or broader financial services is a major plus, but not required for a candidate who knows how to sell.
- Willingness to Travel: Ability to travel as needed for industry conferences, events, and face-to-face partner meetings.
Achieve well-being with:
- Hybrid and remote work opportunities
- 401 (k) with employer match

- Access to wellness support through Employee Assistance Program, Talkspace, and fitness discounts

Business Development Director Jobs in Arizona: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business development director in Arizona?
Most Arizona employers require at least a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, along with several years of progressively senior sales or business development experience. There is no state-issued license specific to this role in Arizona. Candidates who advance typically build a record in account management or sales leadership, earn an MBA or a recognized sales credential, and develop relationships within Arizona's dominant industries: technology, aerospace, defense, and healthcare.
Which companies hire business development directors in Arizona?
Employers hiring business development directors in Arizona right now include IQVIA, Ryder System, and Rocket Lab USA, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Arizona's concentration of aerospace, defense, and technology firms, particularly around the Phoenix metro and Tucson corridors, means demand for this role is broad and relatively steady throughout the year.
Which Arizona cities have the most business development director jobs?
Phoenix, Tucson, and Scottsdale have the most business development director openings in Arizona. Phoenix and Scottsdale dominate because they are home to the state's largest concentration of corporate headquarters, technology companies, and financial services firms, while Tucson contributes consistent openings driven by aerospace, defense contractors, and the University of Arizona's research and commercialization ecosystem.
Are there remote business development director jobs in Arizona?
Yes, and more than most fields, because business development work is relationship- and communication-driven rather than tied to a physical workplace. About 50% of business development director openings tied to Arizona are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broader flexibility in corporate sales roles. Client-facing responsibilities, such as in-person presentations and contract negotiations, are the portions most likely to require occasional or regular on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a business development director in Arizona with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up from an account executive, inside sales, or business development representative role at a mid-size or large Arizona employer such as a Phoenix-area technology firm, defense contractor, or healthcare system. Many of these organizations run formal sales development programs that build the pipeline skills and Arizona market knowledge directors need. Earning a Certified Professional Sales Person credential or completing an MBA at Arizona State University or the University of Arizona can accelerate the transition into director-level consideration.
Where can I find and apply to business development director jobs in Arizona?
You can find and apply to business development director jobs in Arizona on Migrate Mate, which lists current Arizona openings across industries and experience levels. Search the listings, find roles that fit your background and target industry, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
