EmCon Advisors is a growing boutique CPA and advisory firm in Chesterfield, MO. We specialize in making a real impact for our clients through advanced tax strategy, accounting, and year-round business advisory. We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager to join our team and serve as a trusted advisor to business owners and high-net-worth clients.
This role is ideal for an experienced public accounting professional who has built a strong technical foundation and is ready to move beyond traditional compliance work. You will own client relationships, lead tax and accounting engagements, identify planning opportunities, and help clients make better financial and tax decisions throughout the year.
In this role, you will:
- Manage a portfolio of business-owner and individual client relationships, serving as a primary point of contact and trusted advisor.
- Review individual, business, and trust tax returns and provide technical guidance to preparers and senior accountants.
- Identify proactive tax-planning opportunities and work directly with clients to evaluate and implement strategies.
- Lead year-round tax forecasting and planning engagements rather than focusing solely on annual compliance.
- Review financial statements and accounting records, identify issues and trends, and translate financial information into meaningful recommendations for clients.
- Participate in advisory and fractional CFO engagements, including financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, KPI development, cash-flow planning, and other strategic projects.
- Research and resolve complex federal and state tax matters and provide clear recommendations to clients.
- Manage engagement workflow, deadlines, delegation, and quality while helping develop other members of the team.
- Look beyond the immediate assignment to identify opportunities, risks, and additional ways we can help our clients.
- Help refine firm processes and contribute to the continued development of our tax and advisory service model.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of recent public-accounting experience with a strong tax background.
- Experience reviewing individual, business, and trust tax returns.
- Strong understanding of accounting, financial statements, and the financial drivers of privately held businesses.
- Ability to think beyond tax compliance and connect tax, accounting, and business information to identify opportunities and provide meaningful advice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the confidence to lead client conversations and explain complex topics clearly.
- CPA license strongly preferred.
- Experience managing engagements, reviewing the work of others, and providing coaching and technical guidance.
- Organized, proactive, curious, and comfortable taking ownership rather than waiting for direction.
- Strong judgment and ability to manage multiple client relationships and competing priorities.
- Collaborative and team-oriented, with an interest in helping build and improve a growing firm.
- Friendly, client relationship driven with the desire to make an impact.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Competitive salary plus eligibility for performance-based bonus.
- Flexible hybrid work environment.
- Opportunity to move beyond traditional compliance work and develop into a high-level business and tax advisor.
- Direct access to firm leadership and meaningful involvement in client strategy and decision-making.
- Exposure to tax strategy, financial analysis, fractional CFO services, and broader business advisory—not just tax-return production.
- Clear career path toward senior advisor and firm leadership roles.
- Collaborative, casual, and friendly team that values initiative, new ideas, and continuous improvement.
- A growing firm where you can have a meaningful impact on both our clients and the way the firm develops.
- Culture that values excellent client service without treating excessive hours as a measure of success.

Client Manager Jobs in Missouri: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a client manager in Missouri?
Most client manager roles in Missouri require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, though some employers accept equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree. No state-issued license is required for the general role, but client managers in financial services may need FINRA Series licenses, and those in insurance account management must hold a Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance-issued producer license before handling client accounts.
Which companies hire client managers in Missouri?
Employers hiring client managers in Missouri right now include Gallagher, Marsh, and RubinBrown, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Missouri's concentration of financial services headquarters, regional health systems, and logistics firms means demand for client managers is spread across both large enterprise employers and mid-sized regional companies.
Which Missouri cities have the most client manager jobs?
St. Louis, Kansas City, and Chesterfield have the most client manager openings in Missouri. St. Louis leads because of its deep base of financial services, healthcare, and technology firms, while Kansas City's strength in logistics, insurance, and professional services drives steady hiring there, and Springfield's growing healthcare and retail sectors account for a meaningful share of openings in the southwest part of the state.
Are there remote client manager jobs in Missouri?
Yes, and they're more common than in many fields, since client management work centers on communication, relationship oversight, and account strategy rather than on-site presence. About 69% of client manager openings tied to Missouri are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how well the core responsibilities translate to virtual settings. Roles focused on enterprise software, financial services, and digital marketing accounts tend to offer the most remote flexibility.
How can I get hired as a client manager in Missouri with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a customer success associate or account coordinator role, which large Missouri employers such as Centene, Edward Jones, and regional health systems use as structured pipelines into full client management. Lateral moves from inside sales, customer service, or project coordination are common and recognized by Missouri hiring managers. Earning a Salesforce Administrator certification or a HubSpot CRM credential gives candidates a concrete edge, and many St. Louis and Kansas City employers post rotational associate programs specifically designed for recent graduates.
Where can I find and apply to client manager jobs in Missouri?
