Get ASE Certifications Before Applying
Asbury dealerships service brands like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi. Holding ASE certifications, especially in the specialties relevant to those brands, signals job-readiness and strengthens the employer's case during PERM labor certification.
Target Specific Asbury Dealership Locations
Asbury operates branded dealerships under names like Coggin, Nalley, and Park Place. Applying directly to a specific franchise location often gets faster traction than a corporate-level application, since hiring decisions for shop Technicians are made locally.
Ask About EB-3 Sponsorship During Offer Conversations
Asbury has sponsored Technicians through employment-based Green Card pathways. When an offer is on the table, ask HR whether they sponsor EB-3 specifically for Technicians, not just professional roles, to confirm the process applies to your position.
Understand the PERM Timeline for Trade Roles
PERM labor certification for Technician roles requires DOL to confirm no qualified U.S. workers are available. That process can take six to twelve months before an I-140 petition is even filed, so factor that into your authorization planning.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Open Technician Roles
Searching for sponsorship-friendly Technician openings manually is slow and unreliable. Use Migrate Mate to filter Asbury Automotive Group's active Technician listings by visa sponsorship history and find positions where the company has a track record of filing.
Bring OEM Training Records to Your Interview
Manufacturer-specific training from Ford, GM, or luxury brands carries real weight at Asbury dealerships. Bringing documentation of completed OEM courses shows you can be productive in the role immediately, which matters to a hiring manager weighing sponsorship costs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Asbury Automotive Group sponsor H-1B visas for Technicians?
Technician roles are classified as skilled trade positions rather than specialty occupations under USCIS definitions, which makes H-1B visa sponsorship uncommon for this role. Asbury's sponsorship activity for Technicians has primarily run through employment-based immigrant visa categories like EB-2 and EB-3, which are better suited to skilled trade and vocational roles.
Which visa types are commonly used for Technician roles at Asbury Automotive Group?
Asbury has sponsored Technicians through EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories, both of which require PERM labor certification filed with the DOL. EB-3 is the more common pathway for skilled trade roles like automotive technicians, covering workers with at least two years of training or experience. Neither pathway requires a lottery, unlike the H-1B.
What qualifications or experience does Asbury Automotive Group expect from Technician candidates?
Asbury dealerships typically expect candidates to hold ASE certifications, have hands-on diagnostic and repair experience, and ideally carry manufacturer-specific training relevant to the brands the location services. Luxury and import brands under the Asbury umbrella, such as Land Rover and Lexus franchises, often require or prefer brand-specific OEM certification alongside general ASE credentials.
How do I apply for Technician jobs at Asbury Automotive Group?
You can browse and apply for open Technician positions at Asbury through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship history so you can prioritize roles where Asbury has an established track record. Applications are typically reviewed at the dealership level, so targeting a specific location rather than a generic corporate posting tends to move faster.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Technician role at Asbury?
The employment-based Green Card process for a Technician role starts with PERM labor certification at the DOL, which currently runs six to twelve months. After PERM is approved, Asbury files an I-140 petition with USCIS, which can add several more months. Depending on your country of birth, priority date backlogs may extend the total timeline beyond the initial filings.
