Frame your experience around SaaS partnerships
Autodesk's business development roles center on software ecosystems, channel partnerships, and platform integrations. Before applying, reframe your resume around SaaS deal structures, ISV relationships, or API-driven partnership models rather than generic business development language.
Target roles tied to Autodesk's core verticals
Autodesk organizes business development around architecture, engineering, construction, and manufacturing. Roles aligned to these verticals are staffed more consistently. Prioritize openings that map to your domain experience, since generic BD roles attract stronger internal competition.
Clarify your visa category before the offer stage
Autodesk sponsors multiple visa types, and the category affects your timeline significantly. Confirm whether you're on OPT, H-1B, E-3, or TN before salary discussions begin so the recruiter can route the filing to the right internal team without delays.
Align your OPT end date with the hiring cycle
If you're on F-1 OPT, Autodesk's H-1B cap-subject filing window opens in April for an October 1 start date. A gap between your OPT expiration and H-1B activation can affect employment continuity, so map your job search timeline against USCIS's annual lottery registration period.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Autodesk BD openings by visa type
Autodesk posts Strategic Business Development roles across multiple locations, and not all are visa-eligible. Use Migrate Mate to filter open positions by the visa types Autodesk sponsors, so you're applying to roles where your work authorization category is already supported.
Prepare for PERM-stage documentation early
If Autodesk initiates a Green Card through PERM for an EB-2 or EB-3 category, the DOL requires documentation of your qualifications matching the job description exactly. Keep educational transcripts, official degree equivalency assessments, and prior employment records accessible well before sponsorship discussions begin.

Does Autodesk sponsor H-1B visas for Strategic Business Developments?
Yes, Autodesk sponsors H-1B visas for Strategic Business Development roles. The company has an established immigration program that handles cap-subject H-1B filings as well as transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status with another employer. If you're cap-exempt or currently on H-1B, a transfer can begin at any point in the year without waiting for the April lottery window.
How do I apply for Strategic Business Development jobs at Autodesk?
Applications go through Autodesk's careers portal, where you can filter by function and location. Before applying, confirm the role is open to sponsored candidates by reviewing the job description for sponsorship language or filtering by visa type using Migrate Mate. Tailor your application to Autodesk's core verticals: architecture, engineering, construction, and manufacturing software ecosystems.
Which visa types does Autodesk commonly sponsor for Strategic Business Development roles?
Autodesk sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT and CPT for this function, as well as immigrant visa pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-term sponsorship. E-3 applies exclusively to Australian citizens. TN applies to Canadian and Mexican citizens in qualifying occupational categories. The right category depends on your nationality, degree, and employment history.
What qualifications does Autodesk typically expect for Strategic Business Development positions?
Autodesk's business development roles generally require a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, computer science, or a related field, along with experience in software partnerships, channel sales, or technology alliances. Roles targeting construction or manufacturing verticals often expect domain-specific knowledge. For H-1B specialty occupation eligibility, your degree field needs to align with the specific role requirements rather than general business.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Strategic Business Development hire at Autodesk?
Timeline depends on visa category. An H-1B transfer for a candidate already in status can be filed with a same-day or next-day start using USCIS premium processing, which typically resolves within 15 business days. A cap-subject H-1B follows the April lottery with an October 1 employment start. E-3 and TN can move faster, often resolving within weeks of an offer through consular processing.
