Align your credentials to manufacturing program management
Carrier's Project Program Manager roles in manufacturing require documented experience managing capital projects or product development cycles. A PMP certification alongside engineering or operations experience strengthens your H-1B specialty occupation case significantly.
Target Carrier's HVAC and refrigeration business units
Open Project Program Manager positions are concentrated in Carrier's climate and cold chain divisions. Applying directly to those business units, rather than corporate-wide, puts your application in front of hiring managers who regularly work with international candidates.
Understand which visa fits your current status
Carrier sponsors H-1B, F-1 OPT, and TN visas for this role. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your employer of record arrangement covers program management work before accepting an offer, since scope matters for USCIS status compliance.
Negotiate H-1B filing timing before your OPT expires
If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT, confirm with Carrier's HR team whether they'll file your H-1B petition in the April cap season. STEM OPT extensions give you up to 36 months, but you need cap-subject registration aligned to your end date.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Carrier's open PM roles
Carrier posts Project Program Manager positions across multiple locations and business units simultaneously. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Carrier roles that have active visa sponsorship, so you're not manually screening dozens of postings.
Prepare for DOL prevailing wage scrutiny in manufacturing
The DOL assigns prevailing wages by job zone and geography. Project Program Manager roles at Carrier's manufacturing sites in Connecticut, Florida, and Texas carry different wage levels. Confirm your offered salary meets or exceeds the applicable Level I or II wage before your H-1B petition is filed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Carrier sponsor H-1B visas for Project Program Managers?
Yes, Carrier sponsors H-1B visas for Project Program Manager positions. The role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines given its requirement for a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, business, or a related technical field. Sponsorship is most common for candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or a prior H-1B visa who are transitioning into a new position.
Which visa types does Carrier commonly use for Project Program Manager roles?
Carrier uses H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for Project Program Manager hires. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. F-1 OPT is the most common starting point for recent graduates before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship through the annual April cap season.
How do I apply for Project Program Manager jobs at Carrier?
Applications go through Carrier's careers portal at jobs.carrier.com, where you can filter by job title and location. You can also browse Carrier's open Project Program Manager positions on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles with active visa sponsorship. Tailor your resume to emphasize cross-functional program delivery, manufacturing operations experience, and any PMP or Six Sigma credentials.
What qualifications does Carrier expect for Project Program Manager roles?
Carrier typically requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering, or a related field, paired with several years of hands-on program or project management experience in a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with stage-gate product development processes, ERP systems, and cross-site supplier coordination is frequently listed in their job descriptions. A PMP or equivalent certification strengthens your application.
How do I plan my timeline if Carrier is sponsoring my H-1B?
USCIS opens H-1B cap registration each March for an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer from Carrier while on F-1 OPT, your employer needs to register you in March, file the full petition after selection, and confirm your OPT authorization covers the gap period. STEM OPT extensions can bridge up to 36 months, giving you meaningful runway if you miss one lottery cycle.
