Align your cloud certifications to AWS
Chewy runs heavily on AWS. Before applying, make sure your resume and certifications reflect hands-on AWS experience, not just general cloud exposure. An AWS Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer certification signals direct relevance to their stack.
Target roles that specify infrastructure ownership
Cloud Engineer postings at Chewy often distinguish between platform-level ownership and support roles. Roles with infrastructure ownership language are more likely to generate H-1B sponsorship because they map cleanly to a specialty occupation requiring a specific technical degree.
Find Chewy's open roles through Migrate Mate
Search for Cloud Engineer roles at Chewy on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for visa-sponsoring employers. You can confirm which postings are active before investing time in tailoring your application materials.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the offer stage
Before signing, ask HR whether sponsorship covers only H-1B status change or also includes future Green Card filing through PERM. Retail employers sometimes sponsor the initial visa without committing to EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship, so getting clarity early protects your long-term planning.
Use your OPT period to demonstrate production impact
If you join on F-1 OPT, document infrastructure projects you own end-to-end. When Chewy files your H-1B petition with USCIS, a clear record of specialty occupation duties, not just team contributions, strengthens the specialty occupation argument for cloud engineering roles.
Check your DOL Labor Condition Application wage level
When your employer files the LCA with DOL, verify that your offered wage meets at least the prevailing wage Level I for your metro area. Cloud engineers in Chewy's key markets like Florida and Massachusetts have different prevailing wage benchmarks, so the number on your offer letter matters.

Find Cloud Engineer at Chewy JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Chewy sponsor H-1B visas for Cloud Engineers?
Yes, Chewy sponsors H-1B visas for Cloud Engineer roles. Cloud engineering positions at Chewy typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria because they require at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Sponsorship is generally tied to roles with defined infrastructure ownership rather than general IT support functions.
How do I apply for Cloud Engineer jobs at Chewy?
You can browse and apply for Cloud Engineer positions at Chewy through Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles from employers with a verified sponsorship track record. When applying, tailor your resume to Chewy's AWS-centric environment and make clear in your application materials that you'll need visa sponsorship. Raising sponsorship early prevents late-stage surprises.
Which visa types does Chewy use for Cloud Engineer hires?
Chewy sponsors H-1B visas as the primary work authorization path for cloud engineers. F-1 OPT and CPT are used for students and recent graduates entering the pipeline, and TN status is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering roles. For long-term employees, Chewy has supported Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 and EB-3 PERM filings.
What qualifications does Chewy expect for Cloud Engineer roles?
Chewy's Cloud Engineer roles generally require a bachelor's degree in computer science, systems engineering, or a closely related field. Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, RDS, and EKS is expected, along with familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. Roles focused on site reliability or platform engineering often expect experience operating at production scale in a high-traffic retail environment.
How do I time my application around the H-1B cap?
The H-1B cap registration window opens in early March each year, with selection results typically announced in late March and petitions filed by June 30. If you're on F-1 OPT, you'll need enough remaining OPT time to cover the gap until October 1, when approved H-1B status takes effect. Cap-exempt scenarios, such as working through a qualifying research institution, don't apply to a retail employer like Chewy.
