Frame your experience around Google's business problems
Google's internal consulting work spans product strategy, go-to-market planning, and operational efficiency. Tailor your resume and case prep to show cross-functional impact, not just client-facing deliverables, since Google values consultants who can work inside a matrixed tech organization.
Verify your visa type fits the role
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, and E-3 visas for Management Consultants. If you're Australian, the E-3 bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely. Confirm which visa category applies to your nationality before your recruiter screen so you can address it proactively.
Target roles that map to your specialty occupation
USCIS requires your job duties to qualify as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. For consulting roles at Google, a degree in business, economics, or engineering typically supports the petition. Avoid applying to generalist roles where the degree requirement is ambiguous.
Use Migrate Mate to track open consulting roles
Google posts Management Consultant openings across multiple business units, and availability shifts quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter verified visa-sponsoring roles at Google so you're applying to active positions where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Align your timeline to Google's recruiting cycles
Google typically runs structured hiring cycles with multiple interview rounds, which can take eight to twelve weeks from application to offer. If you're on OPT, factor in the H-1B cap-subject filing window. Cap-subject H-1B petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start.
Prepare your LCA documentation before the offer stage
Once Google extends an offer, the sponsorship process starts with a Labor Condition Application filed with DOL. Understanding what the LCA certifies, including prevailing wage compliance and working conditions, lets you answer recruiter questions confidently and avoids delays caused by back-and-forth on your employment details.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Management Consultants?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Management Consultant roles. The process begins with a DOL-certified Labor Condition Application, followed by an I-129 petition filed with USCIS. For cap-subject candidates, the petition must be submitted during the annual H-1B filing window, with employment starting no earlier than October 1. Google's legal team manages the sponsorship process internally.
How do I apply for Management Consultant jobs at Google?
Applications go through Google's careers portal at careers.google.com. Search for Management Consultant or Strategy and Operations roles, as Google often categorizes internal consulting work under those titles. Expect a multi-round process including recruiter screen, behavioral interviews, and case-style problem-solving. Migrate Mate lets you browse verified Management Consultant openings at Google that include visa sponsorship.
Which visa types does Google use for Management Consultant roles?
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, and E-3 visas for Management Consultants. H-1B applies to most nationalities and is subject to the annual lottery. H-1B1 is available to Chilean and Singaporean nationals and is not lottery-based. E-3 is exclusive to Australian citizens and also bypasses the lottery. Your nationality determines which path applies.
What qualifications does Google expect for Management Consultant roles?
Google typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, economics, or engineering, often paired with an MBA or equivalent advanced degree. Prior experience at a major consulting firm or in a strategy function at a technology company is common. Strong quantitative skills and experience driving cross-functional initiatives are consistently emphasized in job postings.
How do I plan my timeline if I need visa sponsorship at Google?
Count backward from your work authorization expiration date. Google's interview process typically takes eight to twelve weeks. If you're cap-subject, USCIS requires the H-1B petition to be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start, so aim to receive your offer by February or March. If you're on OPT with a STEM extension, you have more runway, but starting the process early reduces risk.
