Frame your credentials around industrial power systems
Before applying, translate your degree and experience into IPS-relevant terms: rotating equipment, transformers, switchgear, or motor repair. Field Engineer roles here require specialty occupation standing, so your qualifications need a clear link to the electrical manufacturing domain.
Target open roles in underserved service territories
IPS operates service centers nationally. Applying to locations outside major metros can improve your chances, since hard-to-fill field positions in smaller markets often move faster through the internal approval process for sponsorship.
Confirm your OPT or CPT timeline before interviewing
If you're on F-1 OPT, verify your remaining authorization window against IPS's typical onboarding lead time. Field roles involve site-readiness training before deployment, so a tight OPT window can complicate your start date and H-1B transition timing.
Ask directly about the LCA filing process
Once you have an offer, ask HR whether the Labor Condition Application will be filed for your specific work site or a central headquarters address. Field Engineers often work at client locations, and the prevailing wage used by DOL must reflect where the work actually happens.
Use Migrate Mate to identify active Field Engineer openings
Filter by visa type and industry to surface IPS postings that explicitly align with your authorization. Migrate Mate consolidates sponsorship-friendly roles so you can prioritize applications where your visa status is already expected by the hiring team.
Prepare TN documentation if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
Field Engineer qualifies under the TN Engineer category when your degree is in engineering. Bring your degree certificate, the job offer letter specifying the engineering role, and be prepared for a brief CBSA or CBP review at the port of entry.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Integrated Power Services sponsor H-1B visas for Field Engineers?
Yes, Integrated Power Services has sponsored H-1B visas for Field Engineer roles. Field engineering at IPS involves specialized work on electrical systems and rotating equipment in manufacturing environments, which typically satisfies the specialty occupation requirement USCIS uses to evaluate H-1B petitions. Sponsorship availability can vary by location and business need, so confirm directly with the hiring team during the offer stage.
Which visa types are commonly used for Field Engineer roles at Integrated Power Services?
IPS supports H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for Field Engineer positions. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates in electrical or mechanical engineering. H-1B is the standard long-term path. Canadian and Mexican nationals with an engineering degree may qualify for TN status, which is processed directly at the border without a USCIS petition.
How do I apply for Field Engineer jobs at Integrated Power Services?
You can find and apply for Field Engineer openings at Integrated Power Services through Migrate Mate, which lists roles filtered by visa sponsorship type. Applications typically require a resume emphasizing hands-on experience with electrical or mechanical systems. Tailor your application to highlight field service exposure, safety certifications, and any experience with the types of industrial equipment IPS services across its manufacturing client base.
What qualifications and experience does Integrated Power Services expect for Field Engineer candidates?
IPS Field Engineer roles generally require a bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or a closely related engineering discipline. Practical experience with transformers, motors, switchgear, or industrial power systems is valued. Field roles often involve client site travel, so candidates with prior field service or commissioning experience tend to stand out. Relevant certifications in electrical safety or equipment testing can strengthen your application.
How do I plan my timeline for H-1B sponsorship through Integrated Power Services?
H-1B registration opens in March each year for an October 1 start date, so your offer needs to be in place before then. If you're on F-1 OPT when selected, a cap-gap provision allows you to keep working through the transition. USCIS premium processing is available if your start date is time-sensitive. Align your job search and offer timeline accordingly so IPS HR can file before the registration window closes.
