Frame Your HR Credentials for U.S. Standards
A SHRM-CP or PHR certification signals U.S. HR fluency to McDonald's hiring teams. If your credentials are from outside the U.S., get a formal equivalency evaluation before applying so your qualifications aren't filtered out early.
Target McDonald's Regional and Corporate HR Openings
McDonald's HR Manager roles are spread across corporate, field, and regional levels. Field HR roles tied to restaurant operations are high-volume hires, which increases your odds of finding a team actively open to sponsorship discussions.
Understand Which Visa Fits Your HR Background
McDonald's sponsors H-1B, TN, and Green Card pathways for HR roles. TN visas cover Human Resources Managers for Canadian and Mexican nationals and move faster than H-1B. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your employer of record before your 90-day unemployment clock starts.
Clarify Sponsorship Early in the Interview Process
McDonald's HR recruiting operates across multiple business units with varying budget authority. Ask directly whether the specific team, not just the company, can initiate sponsorship. Waiting until the offer stage can cost you weeks if the hiring manager needs internal approval.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Sponsorship-Confirmed HR Roles
Search Migrate Mate to filter Human Resources Manager openings at McDonald's by visa type. This saves time by surfacing roles where sponsorship history is documented, so you're not cold-applying to positions with no track record.
Prepare for PERM Labor Certification Timelines
If McDonald's moves forward with an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card, the DOL PERM process typically takes 12 to 18 months before USCIS even sees your petition. Negotiate your start date and employment terms with this timeline in mind.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does McDonald's sponsor H-1B visas for Human Resources Managers?
Yes, McDonald's sponsors H-1B visas for Human Resources Manager roles, primarily at the corporate and regional levels. Because H-1B is subject to the annual lottery with an April filing window, you'll need an offer in place well before the March registration period. McDonald's HR roles in workforce planning, employee relations, and talent management have historically qualified as specialty occupations under USCIS standards.
How do I apply for Human Resources Manager jobs at McDonald's?
Applications go through McDonald's careers portal, but roles are spread across corporate, field, and regional teams with different hiring contacts. Migrate Mate lets you browse Human Resources Manager openings at McDonald's filtered by visa type, so you can identify which postings align with your sponsorship needs before applying. Tailor your resume to reflect U.S.-style HR competencies and any SHRM or PHR certifications you hold.
Which visa types are commonly used for Human Resources Manager roles at McDonald's?
McDonald's sponsors H-1B, TN visa, EB-2, EB-3, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT for HR professionals. TN visa is the fastest route for Canadian and Mexican nationals, since it requires no lottery and can be processed at the border. H-1B covers the broadest range of nationalities but requires winning the annual USCIS lottery. EB-2 and EB-3 are long-term immigrant pathways typically initiated after you're already working in the role.
What qualifications does McDonald's expect for Human Resources Manager roles?
Most HR Manager postings at McDonald's require a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, along with several years of progressive HR experience. Field-facing roles often prioritize labor relations, high-volume recruiting, or multi-site HR operations experience given McDonald's scale in food and beverage. A SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent certification strengthens your application and supports the specialty occupation determination USCIS requires for H-1B approval.
How long does visa sponsorship take for a Human Resources Manager at McDonald's?
Timeline depends heavily on visa type. TN sponsorship can be completed within days. H-1B requires filing between April and June for an October 1 start, meaning a minimum six-month lead time. If McDonald's pursues a Green Card through EB-2 or EB-3, DOL PERM labor certification alone takes 12 to 18 months, followed by additional USCIS processing. Factor these windows into your employment start date negotiations.
