Align Your Background With HCM Sales
Paylocity sells payroll and human capital management software to mid-market businesses. Frame your resume around SaaS sales cycles, quota attainment, and prospecting experience rather than generic sales skills to stand out in their pipeline.
Verify Your OPT Timeline Before Applying
F-1 OPT gives you 12 months of work authorization, with a 60-day grace period after it ends. Map your OPT expiration against Paylocity's typical hiring timeline so you're not starting a role search too late for a smooth transition.
Target Roles in Paylocity's Growth Markets
Paylocity concentrates hiring in regions where they're expanding mid-market accounts. Searching for Business Development openings in their active metro markets improves your odds of landing a role that justifies the employer sponsorship investment.
Ask About H-1B Filing Timing During Interviews
USCIS opens H-1B registration in March for an October start date. If your offer lands after the registration window, clarify with the recruiter whether Paylocity will carry you on OPT or an extension while waiting for the next cap cycle.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Verified Openings
Not every Sales Business Development posting at Paylocity is tagged for sponsorship in general job boards. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Paylocity roles that are open to visa sponsorship, so you're applying to positions already screened for your situation.
Prepare for PERM Documentation Early
If Paylocity moves you toward an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card, the PERM labor certification process requires the employer to document that no qualified U.S. worker was available. Keep records of your performance reviews and role-specific qualifications to support that filing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Paylocity sponsor H-1B visas for Sales Business Developments?
Yes, Paylocity has a history of sponsoring H-1B visas for Sales Business Development roles. The H-1B requires your position to qualify as a specialty occupation, which is achievable for structured sales roles tied to a relevant bachelor's degree. Because H-1B cap registration happens each March through USCIS, the timing of your offer relative to that window will shape your start date.
How do I apply for Sales Business Development jobs at Paylocity?
You can browse open Sales Business Development positions at Paylocity directly through their careers page or through Migrate Mate, which filters Paylocity's openings by visa sponsorship eligibility. When applying, highlight SaaS or HCM sales experience and be upfront about your visa status early in the process so recruiters can route you to the right hiring manager.
Which visa types does Paylocity typically sponsor for Sales Business Development roles?
Paylocity sponsors H-1B visas, supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students early in the hiring pipeline, and has pursued EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa pathways for longer-tenured employees. TN visas are also an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. The right visa depends on your nationality, degree, and where you are in your career.
What qualifications does Paylocity look for in Sales Business Development candidates?
Paylocity typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, combined with demonstrated experience in outbound prospecting or SaaS sales. For visa sponsorship purposes, that degree requirement matters because it supports the H-1B specialty occupation standard. Familiarity with mid-market sales cycles and CRM tools like Salesforce is a practical advantage in their hiring process.
How do I time my job search at Paylocity around visa deadlines?
If you're on F-1 OPT, target Paylocity openings at least three to four months before your OPT expires to allow time for onboarding and an H-1B filing. USCIS's H-1B cap registration runs each March, so an offer in late spring or summer positions you well for an October 1 start. If you miss the cap window, ask whether Paylocity can extend your employment through a cap-exempt workaround or wait for the next cycle.
