Align your portfolio to AI data pipelines
Scale AI's engineering work centers on data labeling infrastructure, model evaluation, and RLHF pipelines. Before applying, make sure your resume and GitHub portfolio surface experience with large-scale data systems, annotation tooling, or ML platform work rather than generic full-stack projects.
Verify Scale AI's E-Verify enrollment before applying
Scale AI participates in E-Verify, which is required for F-1 OPT and STEM OPT employment authorization. Confirm your OPT start date leaves enough runway for onboarding, because a gap between authorization and your first day can trigger compliance issues with USCIS.
Request H-1B sponsorship clarity during offer negotiation
Once you reach the offer stage, ask directly whether Scale AI will cover premium processing for your H-1B petition. For senior engineering roles at AI companies, employer-paid premium processing is standard practice and saves you three to five months of status uncertainty.
Time your application around the H-1B registration window
If you need H-1B sponsorship, USCIS opens lottery registration in early March each year. Targeting Scale AI's recruiting pipeline in January or February gives your recruiter time to confirm sponsorship approval internally before the registration deadline closes.
Prepare a degree equivalency analysis for non-U.S. credentials
H-1B specialty occupation requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a directly related field. If your computer science or engineering degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-member agency before your employer files the I-129 petition with USCIS.
Use Migrate Mate to surface open Senior Software Engineering roles
Scale AI posts senior engineering openings across multiple teams, and availability shifts quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Scale AI roles that confirm visa sponsorship, so you're applying to active positions where sponsorship has already been validated.

Find Senior Software Engineering at Scale AI JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Scale AI sponsor H-1B visas for Senior Software Engineers?
Yes, Scale AI sponsors H-1B visas for Senior Software Engineering roles. The company files H-1B petitions for engineering hires across its data platform, infrastructure, and AI evaluation teams. If you're currently on F-1 OPT or another nonimmigrant status, you'd transition to H-1B through the annual USCIS lottery, with your employer submitting the petition after a successful registration in March.
How do I apply for Senior Software Engineering jobs at Scale AI?
Applications go through Scale AI's careers page, where senior engineering roles are listed by team and location. Roles span data engine infrastructure, trust and safety tooling, and AI model evaluation platforms. You can also browse active openings that confirm visa sponsorship on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles where international candidates are eligible.
Which visa types does Scale AI commonly sponsor for Senior Software Engineering roles?
Scale AI sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT for Senior Software Engineering positions, along with Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for longer-tenured employees. E-3 is available exclusively to Australian citizens and functions similarly to H-1B without a lottery. TN applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying USMCA occupations, which includes software engineers.
What qualifications does Scale AI expect for Senior Software Engineering candidates?
Scale AI's senior engineering roles typically require several years of experience in distributed systems, backend infrastructure, or ML data pipelines. Hands-on experience with large-scale data processing, Python or Go, and platform engineering carries more weight than general full-stack backgrounds. For specialty occupation purposes under H-1B, your degree must be in computer science, software engineering, or a directly related technical field.
How do I think about the visa sponsorship timeline when targeting Scale AI?
Timeline depends heavily on which visa category applies to you. F-1 OPT authorization starts the day USCIS approves your OPT application, so apply two to three months before your intended start date. H-1B petitions filed after the March lottery aren't effective until October 1, so if you're hired mid-year, you may need to bridge the gap on OPT or another status. For E-3 and TN, processing at a consulate or port of entry is typically faster, often within a few weeks.
