Align your portfolio with live commerce
Whatnot operates a live shopping marketplace, so frame your project management experience around retail operations, vendor programs, or platform scaling. Hiring managers are looking for candidates who understand how development projects map to a commerce flywheel.
Confirm your visa type fits the role
Whatnot sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT among others for this role. Before applying, verify your current status is compatible with their active sponsorship categories so you're not negotiating eligibility after an offer is extended.
Request LCA details before signing
Once you receive an offer, ask the recruiter when the Labor Condition Application will be filed with DOL. LCA certification must happen before USCIS receives your H-1B or E-3 petition, and delays here can shift your start date significantly.
Prepare a specialty occupation case early
USCIS requires Project Development Manager roles to qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B rules. Document how your degree field directly ties to project development responsibilities, not just general management, before your employer's immigration attorney drafts the petition.
Target Whatnot's open roles through Migrate Mate
Browse verified Project Development Manager openings at Whatnot on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles with confirmed sponsorship. This saves time you'd otherwise spend reaching out to recruiters who can't confirm sponsorship upfront.
Use OPT cap-gap to bridge your timeline
If you're on F-1 OPT and your H-1B petition is filed before your OPT expires, you're covered under the cap-gap provision until October 1. File early with Whatnot's team to avoid a work authorization gap during the transition.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Whatnot sponsor H-1B visas for Project Development Managers?
Yes, Whatnot sponsors H-1B visas for Project Development Manager roles. The process involves Whatnot filing a Labor Condition Application with the DOL and then submitting an I-129 petition to USCIS on your behalf. Because the H-1B is subject to an annual cap and lottery, timing your application to the fiscal year registration window in March is critical.
How do I apply for Project Development Manager jobs at Whatnot?
You can find and apply for Project Development Manager positions at Whatnot through Migrate Mate, which lists open roles with confirmed visa sponsorship. When applying, tailor your resume to Whatnot's live commerce and marketplace context, and be direct in your application about your visa status so recruiters can assess sponsorship fit from the start.
Which visa types does Whatnot commonly use for Project Development Manager roles?
Whatnot sponsors several visa categories for this role, including H-1B, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways are also available for longer-term immigration goals, typically after you've established yourself in the role.
What qualifications does Whatnot expect for a Project Development Manager?
Whatnot typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business, operations, or engineering, combined with hands-on experience leading cross-functional projects in a technology or retail environment. For H-1B sponsorship specifically, your degree must directly relate to the project development duties of the role to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation requirements.
How do I plan my timeline when pursuing sponsorship at Whatnot?
The timeline depends on your visa category. H-1B petitions follow a strict annual cycle with lottery registration in March and work start dates no earlier than October 1. E-3 and TN visas move faster and aren't cap-subject. Factor in at least several weeks for LCA certification with DOL before USCIS filing begins, and discuss the full timeline with Whatnot's HR team during the offer stage.
