Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Business Development Manager Jobs at Whatnot Jobs
Frame Your Experience Around Live Commerce
Whatnot operates in live-stream retail, so position your BD background around marketplace growth, seller acquisition, or platform partnerships. Generic retail experience reads weaker than evidence you've driven supply-side or demand-side growth in a digital commerce environment.
Target Roles With Direct Revenue Responsibility
Business Development roles at Whatnot that tie to measurable revenue or seller growth outcomes are the ones most likely to clear USCIS specialty occupation requirements. Roles with ambiguous scope or generalist titles can face RFEs, so prioritize postings with defined targets.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Sponsorship-Ready Openings
Not every Business Development Manager posting at Whatnot is open to visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles where Whatnot has confirmed sponsorship eligibility, saving you from applying to positions that won't move forward.
Negotiate Offer Timing Around Your OPT Cap-Gap Window
If you're on F-1 OPT and targeting a Whatnot H-1B sponsorship, your offer timing relative to the April H-1B filing window matters. A start date misaligned with your OPT expiration can leave a gap in work authorization before cap-gap protections kick in.
Request LCA Details Before Signing Your Offer
Before accepting a Business Development Manager offer at Whatnot, ask HR to confirm the Labor Condition Application job title and prevailing wage level. DOL requires the LCA to reflect your actual duties, and a title mismatch can complicate the H-1B petition filing.

Find Business Development Manager at Whatnot JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Whatnot sponsor H-1B visas for Business Development Managers?
Yes, Whatnot sponsors H-1B visas for Business Development Manager roles. The role needs to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which generally means the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field like business, marketing, or a related discipline. Whatnot's BD roles typically meet this threshold, though exact job scope can affect how the petition is structured.
Which visa types does Whatnot commonly sponsor for Business Development Manager roles?
Whatnot sponsors several visa categories for Business Development Managers, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates. EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways are also supported, which matters if you're thinking beyond the nonimmigrant stage and planning for long-term U.S. residency.
What qualifications does Whatnot expect for a Business Development Manager with visa sponsorship?
Whatnot typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, economics, or a related field, combined with demonstrated experience in partnership development, seller or buyer acquisition, or marketplace growth. For sponsored roles, your degree needs to align with the job duties to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation requirements. Experience in live commerce, social commerce, or marketplace platforms strengthens your application considerably.
How do I apply for Business Development Manager jobs at Whatnot?
You can browse and apply for Business Development Manager openings at Whatnot through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles open to visa sponsorship. Once you identify a match, apply directly through Whatnot's careers portal and flag your visa status early in the recruiter screening call. Being upfront avoids wasted time if a specific role isn't structured for sponsorship.
How do I plan my timeline if Whatnot is sponsoring my H-1B for a Business Development Manager role?
H-1B petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date, so work backwards from that window when negotiating your offer. If you're transitioning from OPT, make sure your OPT expiration date allows enough runway for Whatnot to prepare the Labor Condition Application through DOL and then file the I-129 with USCIS. Premium processing reduces the USCIS adjudication window to roughly 15 business days if timing is tight.
