Compliance Associate Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a compliance associate in New York?
Most compliance associate roles in New York require a bachelor's degree in business, finance, law, or a closely related field, followed by entry-level experience in audit, legal support, or financial operations. No single state-issued license is required, but earning the Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional credential strengthens your candidacy significantly. New York employers, especially in financial services, also value familiarity with New York State Department of Financial Services regulations.
Which companies hire compliance associates in New York?
New York compliance associate roles are posted by icapital, Oscar Health, and Third Bridge and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New York City's concentration of major banks, insurance carriers, and hospital systems means the hiring pool is broader and more varied than in most other states.
Which New York cities have the most compliance associate jobs?
New York, Albany, and Buffalo have the most compliance associate openings in New York. New York City dominates because it is home to the country's largest concentration of financial institutions, law firms, and regulated healthcare systems, while Albany draws demand from state government agencies and the insurance sector, and Buffalo has a growing presence of regional banks and healthcare networks that maintain in-house compliance teams.
Are there remote compliance associate jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than many fields, since compliance work is largely desk-based and document-driven. About 60% of compliance associate openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to distributed work. Policy review, regulatory reporting, and internal auditing are the functions most commonly offered remotely, while roles involving on-site training or floor supervision tend to require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a compliance associate in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a lateral move from a related role such as paralegal, audit assistant, or financial operations analyst, which are plentiful in New York City's financial district and midtown law firms. Large New York employers including major banks and hospital systems regularly hire into compliance analyst associate programs designed for recent graduates. Earning the Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional credential before applying gives candidates without direct experience a concrete edge.
