Compliance Officer Jobs in Montana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a compliance officer in Montana?
Most compliance officer roles in Montana require a bachelor's degree in business, finance, law, or a related discipline as the baseline entry point. No single state-issued license governs the profession, but employers in banking frequently expect familiarity with Montana Division of Banking and Financial Institutions requirements, while healthcare employers look for Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) credentials from the Compliance Certification Board. Building experience in auditing, legal, or regulatory affairs roles within a Montana industry first is the most practical path.
How much do compliance officers make in Montana?
Compliance officers in Montana earn a median of about $66,660 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $50,350 for the lowest 10% to over $109,300 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire compliance officers in Montana?
Montana compliance officer roles are posted by Clearwater Credit Union, CrossCountry Mortgage, and United Way and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring is especially active among Montana's regional banks, hospital networks, and energy companies operating under state and federal environmental oversight.
Which Montana cities have the most compliance officer jobs?
Great Falls, Helena, and Bozeman hold the most compliance officer openings in Montana. Billings leads because it is the state's largest commercial center, home to major regional hospitals, financial institutions, and energy sector headquarters, while Missoula's concentration of healthcare systems and the University of Montana drives demand there, and Great Falls supports openings through its banking presence and Malmstrom Air Force Base contractor ecosystem.
Are there remote compliance officer jobs in Montana?
Yes, and more than many fields, since compliance work is largely desk-based and document-driven. About 17% of compliance officer openings tied to Montana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the role's analytical and reporting-heavy nature. Policy review, regulatory filings, and internal audit work are the functions most commonly performed fully remote, while roles requiring on-site inspections or direct staff training tend to remain in-person.
How can I get hired as a compliance officer in Montana with little or no experience?
Starting in an adjacent role is the most realistic entry path in Montana. Positions in loan processing or bank operations at Glacier Bancorp or First Interstate Bank, medical billing and coding at Billings Clinic, or paralegal and contract administration roles at larger firms all build the regulatory knowledge compliance hiring managers look for. Earning a foundational credential such as the Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) while working in those roles signals seriousness and can accelerate a move into a junior compliance analyst or compliance coordinator title.
Where can I find and apply to compliance officer jobs in Montana?
Migrate Mate lists current compliance officer openings in Montana across industries including banking, healthcare, and natural resources. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your background and location preference, and apply directly to each listing that fits. No account creation is required to view open positions.
