INTRODUCTION

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates wheel excavator, track excavator, backhoe, front end loader, and skid loader.
- Operates all department vehicles.
- Performs manual labor as necessary.
- Operates air jack hammer and a wide variety of hand tools.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance on departmental equipment.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY
- Must be capable to perform strenuous physical labor.
- Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
- Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors and the public.
- Ability to lift or move up to 100 pounds.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Six months experience operating heavy equipment machinery.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Valid Commercial Driver's License required.
EQUIPMENT
Saws, tampers, pumps, compressors, and other gas and hydraulic powered equipment and heavy equipment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl. The employee must lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed outdoors in adverse weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee frequently works in wet and/or humid conditions and is exposed to airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to electric shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to loud.
SCHEDULE:
M-Th 6:00am-4:00pm Summer: M-F 7:00am-3:00pm Winter, Schedule may vary based on departmental need.
