Distribution Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a distribution manager in New York?
Most distribution managers in New York move into the role through a combination of a bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, or business administration and several years of progressive warehouse or operations experience. New York does not require a state-issued license for this role. Candidates who earn credentials like the APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional designation stand out in a competitive market, particularly with large employers in the New York City metro and Hudson Valley logistics corridors.
How much do distribution managers make in New York?
Distribution managers in New York earn a median of about $127,180 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $80,430 for the lowest 10% to over $204,600 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire distribution managers in New York?
Employers hiring distribution managers in New York right now include SRS Distribution, SRS Distribution, and Alvarez & Marsal, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's high-volume consumer market and major port infrastructure at Newark and the JFK cargo complex mean large food, beverage, and e-commerce companies maintain especially active and recurring distribution manager hiring in the region.
Which New York cities have the most distribution manager jobs?
New York, Syracuse, and Rochester account for the largest share of distribution manager openings in New York. New York City dominates because of its massive retail density and last-mile logistics demand, while suburban and upstate markets like those around the Capital Region and Long Island are driven by regional distribution centers serving major grocery chains and big-box retailers with large footprints outside the five boroughs.
Are there remote distribution manager jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Distribution management is primarily an on-site role tied to physical operations, inventory oversight, and floor-level team supervision. About 44% of distribution manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to involve network planning, vendor coordination, or multi-site reporting functions rather than hands-on warehouse management.
How can I get hired as a distribution manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to start as a warehouse associate, inventory coordinator, or logistics analyst at a large New York employer, then work toward a team lead or shift supervisor title. Companies like Amazon and Sysco run structured internal advancement programs at their New York metro facilities that move high-performing associates into management tracks. An APICS Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution credential strengthens candidacy for candidates without a traditional management background.
Where can I find and apply to distribution manager jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to distribution manager jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
