Education Jobs in South Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a education in South Carolina?
To teach in South Carolina, you must hold a valid South Carolina teaching certificate issued by the South Carolina Department of Education, which requires completing an approved teacher preparation program, passing the Praxis Core and relevant Praxis Subject Assessments, and clearing a background check. Candidates from other states may apply for a reciprocal certificate if they hold a comparable license. Early childhood and higher education roles carry separate credentialing paths through their respective accrediting bodies.
Which companies hire educations in South Carolina?
South Carolina education roles are posted by Berkeley County School District, Aiken County Public Schools, and State of South Carolina and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. South Carolina's largest school districts, state technical colleges, and research universities anchor most of the consistent long-term hiring across the state.
Which South Carolina cities have the most education jobs?
Charleston, Berkeley County, and Horry County have the most education openings in South Carolina. Columbia leads because of its concentration of state government offices, the University of South Carolina, and large urban school districts, while Greenville and Charleston draw consistent hiring from rapidly growing suburban districts, technical colleges, and expanding healthcare-affiliated education programs tied to their broader economic growth.
Are there remote education jobs in South Carolina?
Yes, but they're rare. About 23% of education openings tied to South Carolina are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how fundamentally in-person most teaching and student-facing roles are by nature. The education positions most likely to be remote are curriculum development, instructional design, online course facilitation, and certain district-level administrative or specialist roles that do not require daily classroom presence.
How can I get hired as a education in South Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is pursuing a Resident Teacher Certificate through the South Carolina Department of Education, which allows candidates who have completed a preparation program to teach while completing supervised clinical hours. Large districts such as Greenville County Schools and Charleston County School District regularly recruit new graduates into their teacher residency and induction programs. Paraprofessional and instructional aide roles also offer a direct way to build classroom experience before stepping into a lead teaching position.
Where can I find and apply to education jobs in South Carolina?
You can find and apply to education jobs in South Carolina on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from school districts, colleges, and education-related employers across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your certification level and subject area, then apply directly to the ones that fit your background.
