Engineering Program Manager Jobs in Idaho: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a engineering program manager in Idaho?
Most engineering program manager roles in Idaho require a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, computer science, or a related technical field, followed by several years of hands-on project or program experience. Idaho does not require a state-issued license specific to this management role, but a Professional Engineer registration through the Idaho Board of Licensure of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors can strengthen your candidacy, particularly in civil, electrical, or mechanical disciplines tied to Idaho's defense and energy sectors.
How much do engineering program managers make in Idaho?
Engineering program managers in Idaho earn a median of about $162,970 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $103,130 for the lowest 10% to over $219,970 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire engineering program managers in Idaho?
Idaho engineering program manager roles are posted by Micron Technology, Quanta Infrastructure Solutions, and Micron Idaho Semiconductor Manufacturing (Triton) and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Idaho's semiconductor, defense, and national laboratory sectors drive consistent demand for this role throughout the year.
Which Idaho cities have the most engineering program manager jobs?
Boise, Idaho, and Meridian have the most engineering program manager openings in Idaho. Boise anchors the market as the state's largest metro and home to major technology and semiconductor employers, while Idaho Falls draws openings from the Idaho National Laboratory and its contractor ecosystem, and Nampa benefits from its proximity to Boise's expanding industrial and logistics corridors.
Are there remote engineering program manager jobs in Idaho?
Yes, and more than many engineering roles, since program management work is largely coordination, documentation, and stakeholder communication rather than hands-on site work. About 27% of engineering program manager openings tied to Idaho are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the role's strong fit for distributed teams. Planning, reporting, and cross-functional coordination tasks are most commonly performed remotely, while on-site presence is more often required during launch phases or for defense and lab positions with facility access requirements.
How can I get hired as a engineering program manager in Idaho with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a program coordinator or project engineer role first and building program management experience from there. Idaho employers like Micron Technology and the Idaho National Laboratory hire associate project managers and program coordinators who transition into full program manager roles over time. Earning a Certified Associate in Project Management credential demonstrates readiness, and gaining experience in Idaho's semiconductor or government contracting environments gives candidates a concrete edge when applying for junior program management openings.
Where can I find and apply to engineering program manager jobs in Idaho?
