Facility Technician Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a facility technician in Texas?
Most facility technician roles in Texas require a high school diploma or a vocational certificate in building maintenance, HVAC, or electrical systems from a Texas community college or technical school. Texas requires HVAC technicians who handle refrigerants to hold an EPA Section 608 certification, and electricians performing certain work must be licensed through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Completing an apprenticeship or earning a certificate from a Texas State Technical College campus is a common path into the field.
How much do facility technicians make in Texas?
Facility technicians in Texas earn a median of about $46,670 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $30,950 for the lowest 10% to over $74,220 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire facility technicians in Texas?
Employers hiring facility technicians in Texas right now include Walmart, Facility Solutions, and Meta, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of healthcare campuses, energy sector facilities, and large commercial property portfolios means these employers maintain ongoing facility technician needs rather than seasonal or project-based hiring cycles.
Which Texas cities have the most facility technician jobs?
Houston, Austin, and San Antonio have the most facility technician openings in Texas. Houston's dominance reflects its density of petrochemical plants, medical center campuses, and large commercial office parks, while Dallas-Fort Worth draws demand from corporate headquarters and logistics facilities, and San Antonio's military installations and growing healthcare sector sustain consistent hiring across facility maintenance roles.
Are there remote facility technician jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Facility technician work is inherently hands-on and site-specific, so most openings require physical presence at a building or plant. About 0% of facility technician openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions are typically limited to facility coordinator or work-order scheduling roles rather than direct maintenance or repair functions.
How can I get hired as a facility technician in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a maintenance technician assistant or building services associate role with a large Texas property management firm or hospital system, where on-the-job training is structured and common. Companies like Aramark and Cushman & Wakefield regularly hire entry-level candidates in Texas for associate programs that provide direct equipment experience. Earning an EPA Section 608 certification or completing a building maintenance certificate at a Texas State Technical College campus before applying gives candidates a concrete edge over others with no credentials.
Where can I find and apply to facility technician jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to facility technician jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the state. Find roles that fit your experience and location and apply directly to the employers posting them.
